it had to be kimblee too. it's a necessary part of any hardline pacifist's story to come up against the worst guy ever and still choose principle. anyone less evil would have been worth risking his life for. kimblee wasn't worth it at all. still ed doesn't mind. a lesser story would have made this the turning point where ed learns that he should kill but nope, that's not who he is, this doesn't change anything, the value of a person does not change. he's gonna live with his decision. he knows kimblee's never gonna change he knows his mercy is wasted he knows everyone thinks he's stupid but it's the principle of the thing. and it's the outflow of the action. mercy won't save kimblee but it saved his 4 men. it's a beacon for miles. it saved winry. it can save scar. as soon as 1 person isn't worth it, none of us are because one is all and all is one.

i keep getting this instagram ad for what i assume is a romantasy novel that begins w the phrase “imagine knowing your destiny in life…is to die” n it’s pissing me off SO BAD. everyone’s destiny in life is to die. that’s like. kind of the main one.

Find gym rats, painters, academics, devoted gardeners, gourmands, cinephiles, audiophiles, wine snobs, fashionistas... anyone who is deeply devoted to something in life, that fascinates them, brings them peace, and compels them to live. Learn from them, ask them to show you what's so good about ____. Imagine yourself as one of those anime slice of life characters who've learned that they can be satisfied (fulfilled even) with life as long as they pursue their love of __. The world is full of so much misery for us, and so many of us let that misery and hatred eat away at us until we're depressed, angry shells of people. The most delicious food in the world is protected by tiny demons who can defend it from everyone except you. Your natural armor is thick enough that you can just eat the damn hive while they buzz around you. God's chosen animals right there

the species that can take you out are literally wizards with magic boom sticks that instantly wound you from a distance. they're mostly just scared of you though, if you catch one without the boom stick they're very easy to kill. also they leave treasure chests full of delicious food around where they live and if you're smart you can figure out how to open them. going into one of their settlements is basically a dungeon crawler RPG.

Hibernation lasts 6 months in Alaska I think. Truly powerful.
