The RSS, a Hindu nationalist group, has been marching all around the nation. With heavy sticks and poles called “Lathis” (that have been previously used against peaceful anti-caa/nrc protestors). And they are being allowed to do this freely. There’s no section 144 being imposed on them. The internet in these areas is untouched.

Internet and other phone services suspended in Delhi and other cities in India.

Not just the RSS- but the police has been going around causing destruction to people’s private property- in residential areas where there are no protests being held. To scare them and keep them in their homes. (Link 2) The police is unfairly arresting muslims who aren’t even taking part in the protests. Detaining underage students. Beating them up. Several people have been killed. Including babies. (Link 2)

The celebrities and “influencers” in our country are hush about everything that is happening. 

The government was recently allotted 1300 crore rupees (13 billion US dollars) to start working on NPR (national population register). Which basically sets the foundation for NCR (national citizenship registration). 

The GDP and unemployment is at an all time low. Modi lies about economic growth and wastes billions on discriminatory acts.

The police caught and arrested him. But despite the heinous and violent crimes he was credibly accused of, he was released without bail. He was free for three months AFTER police discovered  that he was abusing 12 underage black girls.

Last night a parade of tanks, police cars and soldiers armed to the teeth pointing with rifles just passed in front of my fucking house. I fell asleep hearing gun shots. And I'm lucky this is a quiet middle class neighborhood. South side Santiago is a total mess. People who suffered under Pinochet's dictatorship (our parents and grandparents) are having panic attacks and PTSD flashbacks all over again.

The press doesn't do shit, only focusing on bootlicking politicians, metro stations and supermarkets burning (which has been proved the police did it themselves, there are videos) instead of reporting the hundreds of wounded civilians, some of them dead but of course there are no "official" statements by the government. They're even blocking their online websites so people outside the country can't watch the news. We're only relying on social media to know what's really happening.

BASICALLY: I’m Ae, I’m 23, trans, mentally ill (severe anxiety, adhd, depression, panic disorder, trauma issues) and trapped in an unstable, physically unhealthy and emotionally abusive household with a hoarder+addict who has stolen money from me. But that is exactly the problem that I had with this article: it is about “changing the face” of what it means to be a sex-tourist without addressing why traveling to a developing/colonized nation for sex is harmful in itself. 

The writer describes Bad Sex Tourism as “traditionally colonialist, racist, and classist” and the New & Good & Diverse Sex Tourism as “finding more ethical ways to travel while horny than soliciting sex workers in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean”. 

And this new ethical way of “sex travel”? Sex resorts & “consensual playgrounds” in places like Cancun. 

@organic-homegrown-boyfriend: you say this article isn’t talking about people going overseas to target children, rather going to resorts to have sex with other vacationers – i am saying the latter should not be pitched as an “ethical” replacement for the former. The article doesn’t address why having to go to an underdeveloped & vulnerable country for sex is a harmful & exploitative thing in itself. 

Non-sexual “regular” resorts and vacation sites in these areas already poses the threat of abuse for its workers & the people who live in that country – it already lays the groundwork for exploitation of locals & vulnerable people because vacationers already have power over them – a resort dedicated to sex will only ever exacerbate this problem. 

It’s interesting because this writer goes onto cite the words of an expert: 

“You’re singling out a particular destination with the intention of paying locals for sex to satisfy a fetish…That throws into the mix a whole set of dynamics which problematize an already unequal relationship.” 

&

“What is a Dominican woman supposed to do sexually that you cannot get from a consenting partner in Finland?”

But the issue of power dynamics is never addressed again, neither is the second question of “why can you not do this where you live?” (Again, it’s not like black and brown people are coming to Canada or the U.S. to exploit white people for sex).

Look at how these resorts are described: there’s “referees” who give “time outs” (??!1) to people who assault staff or other vacationers – what happens when, inevitably, sexual assault occurs? What options do the people harmed in those situations have? Who can they call? What resolutions are offered to them? Aside from the obvious legal barriers presented by international sex crimes, what are vulnerable people supposed to do when their source of income is tied to regular abuse? 

It doesn’t matter how many PowerPoints on “Consent” are presented by the CEO of this resort, there is an investment in the imbalance of power between vacationers, locals & workers – a totally flaccid & neoliberal appropriation of consent lingo isn’t going to fix that problem.

Hello everyone, I know you might familiar with my husband @sweetdickheadass and I by now but we need help again. We went to the hostipal after calling 911 repeatedly bexause my husband was in excusating pain that paralyzed him for 12 hours to the point where he just sobbed. We made every attempt to treat the issue at the shelter we were say because we definitely didn’t have the moment to copay but to avail. He had to be carried down the stairs because he was in too much pain to walk. Luckily he was able to be treated that night and we were discarged early that morning.

Unfortunately that was not the end of my husband pain, when at school the day after he nearly fainted and was taken to an urgent care. They took every insurance but the insurance my husband currently has so he is responsible for the $350 out of pocket.

After that we recieved the bill from the hostipal you see above of $812. We have no means other than donations to pay for it as my husband goes to school full time while I am DISABLED and unable to work.

We already recieved some help through this post but still need more than half to pay it off.
