(Album) Our Songs - ぼくらのうた

I like bermei.inazawa’s works since his style is very unique and strange yet so enchanting, both original and arrangements. I think his main style of music is a combination of jazz and electronic with a strong hint of bass, evidently shown in Midnight Summer Magic from his album Brightness Falls from the Air or several tracks from Berpop Melodies and Remixies vol. 2 .

I don’t have a specific favourite album or songs, but if I have to pick one peculiar album made by bermei that sticks out of them all, I have to say it’s gotta be ぼくらのうた (Bokura no Uta) which means Our Songs. Most of the tracks are arrangement of children’s songs and songs of TV shows made in the 70s and 80s which kinda gives me the impression that bermei was trying to give his touch to his childhood songs. And I’ve gotta say the man did it flawlessly. After some quick re-search most of the songs are rearrangements of the songs from the television program named Everyone’s Songs (みんなのうた). According to the wikipedia article, “While many of the episodes are aimed at children, a large percentage are not, so the program enjoys a wide audience.” 

Overmorrow = the day after tomorrow

Lingible (adj): meant to be licked

Whipjack (n): a beggar, specifically one who is pretending to have been shipwrecked

Yerd (v): to beat with an object with a stick

Balbriggan (n): a type of fine cotton, most often used in underwear
