A silly and oddly specific headcanon of mine is that Shen Yuan often can't help himself but include some of the things he learned pre-transmigration like math and literature when he teaches (i say literature but for american reference I mean English class where the goal is to assess a text and form an argument based on information presented.) It gets disguised as lessons in calculation and investigation techniques but I like to think it improves how fast the Qing Jing Peak ducklings process mass-quantities of information and shape the way they do Night Hunts. As much as I hate math [i was an Art Major in college and expressedly avoided calculus] a lot good comes from learning logic via math. You learn to figure out discrepancies (solve for x) and I believe it to be a simple way to visualize logical arguments (if, than statements + assessing excess information uneeded to find a solution) and for Qing Jing Peak ducks i think it might help sort things and guide the way they do work, like looking into records to see if it really WAS a ghost terrorizing their crops or it was the cranky neighbor down the road who hates them.

Its not that i think math and investigation skills aren't present in the setting but I do think the contemporary approach to learning math and literature might be different than in the Setting and I think its facinating how international the use of symbollic glyphs of numbers is (1 2 3 4 5- etc) because it really shortens the information written down when combined with symbols that denote change (+, ×, ÷ etc).

Og!sqh, Shang Houhua (Credit to Tossawary (i think?) :o) is the older twin while Airplane!sqh, Shang Meihua is the younger one. (From myself? As far as i’m aware? idk if i accidentally stole this from someone but the “Mei” is the same character for unlucky, 霉 in 倒霉. (I forgot how many strokes that word has omfg) Meihua can also mean plum blossoms (梅花) and thats what most people assume airplanes name is when said out loud instead of writing.

The reason the twins have such feminine names is bc their parents sold them away, originally they were hoping to sell girls since they have a higher price so the parents named them feminine names hoping to get more money.

Houhua is og!sqh but regressed while Meihua is Xiang Fei transmigrated. Neither of them are aware of their identity so it makes for some funny misunderstanding where they both try to save each other from the same thing.

houhua: Shixiong put my name on that trip, let my little brother stay at the sect

meihua: Shixiong, why did you remove my name and changed it to Hua-ge? I can protect myself perfectly fine!

In this au, both twins are the a ding peak lord simply because they keep fighting for the title. The then a ding peak lord got so tired of their bullshit that he decided to just make them both peak lords. (Controversial decision, but he’d rather fight with the sect leader about allowing the shang twins to become peak lords than listen to them bickering who be the best peak lord, yes they were that annoying.)

Eventually, the sect leader let them both be peak lords since an ding was the largest peak in the entire sect.

Bc of that the Shang twins are like. super popular topic in the sect, there’s always rumours surrounding them. (There are always rumours about the peak lords/head disciples but they have even more. Somewhat near sj amount maybe.)

The both of them created a golden core at about the same time since they both know the importance of being strong so both of them seem pretty young. (airplane first cuz og didn’t want to seem younger than his brother)

i’d like to think that both of them are called Shang Qinghua since that’s really fucking funny but they probably aren’t

speaking of names, the anding peak lords calls og “ah-hua” and airplane “Meihua” or “Ah-Mei” this is because “ah-hou” sounds a lot like 猴 which is means monkey lol

Og always is seen as the scarier sibling while airplane is seen as the innocent one when in reality both are equally “scary”

both twins have their strengths and weaknesses, og does paperwork like. scarily fast. while airplane will do it while complaining the entire time. Both of them are really really good at negotiating, so a lot of the time one of them is gone while the other stays at the sect to do internal sect things. Airplane can find any materials/artifact/beast so a lot of the times people will come to him for stuff. Og on the other hand would just flat out refuse even if the said stuff is obtainable. if it’s too much of a hassle, he would js ignore you.

for peak lord meetings, it’s actually pretty rare for both of them to attend it. airplane is the one that attends while og hatesssss it. the only time he would actually attend is start/end of years when the peak lord’s request expensive stuff for the year. airplane has not enough back bone to deny any requests so og is there to filter the insane ones

All ming fan was doing was treating it with the same expectations of when he used to arrange the night missions. An ideal goal of fulfillment rather than a demand, not every area they go to will have a fancy lord's house to stay in for the duration of the Nighthunt, he's just being realistic. And i think as a son of a rich family who seem to get their wealth via agriculture (tea farming) he would have some understanding of how logistics and esp the logistics in coordinating operation efforts across multiple people. The paperwork he files is concise and descriptive about his needs but he separates his needs from his ideals; essentially having a sort of general goal while also outlining extra stuff he'd like to have if time and resources permit. I think An Ding Peak would love that sort of thing because it gives a clear end-goal and has its expectations written out with the understanding that some of the things they ask for might not work out but they at LEAST need THIS PARTICULAR THING which heavily alters how they aproach the request.

Meanwhile you've got bullshit like Bai Zhan Peak needing 6 training dummies tmmr k thanks.

Not every peak is like this i think but i 100% think that Ming Fan might be the most polite and grateful for it, fulfilling the request is met with gratittude and gifts whenever he's close by because he recognizes the effort it takes for procurement. Others do too but its colored by the idea that "Its An Ding Peak, its their job" while Ming Fan is doing the equivalent of trying to stack plates for the server in the well-meaning attempt of making their job a little easier.

He's pretty sharp tho so he can pick ip some of the words being tossed between Xiang Fei and Shen Yuan and Shen Yuan has the most unhinged outraged face when this happens:
