i think very often about this story i once heard about a dom who made jewelry. he made a short, delicate chain as a leash for his partner - I think the other end might have connected to a ring he wore. it was so fine it would have been very easy to break.
so as he went about the party they were hosting, his sub had to be completely cued into him and mindful of his every move. too close and she'd be in his way, too far and she'd damage this beautiful thing he spent so much time to make for her. can you imagine how much attentiveness that would take? how much the person on the other end of the chain would become the center of your focus and everything you do?
i think as fun as physical bondage is, mental bondage is really underrated. i love restraints you could break, but actively choose not to as an act of obedience. i love restraints that would be easy to break, so the thing that keeps you in them is knowing it's what your partner wants. that motivation to obey what they want for you can consume your entire focus, while for them it's just as passive as if the restraints actually forced you to obey - or it can be something they challenge and make actively difficult for you, because you can't rely on that sturdiness of actual bondage, it's all up to you and your willpower.

another pet peeve I have with fiction is when the narrative treats the need to leave an illusory or fantasy reality for The Real World as self-evident
nooo ha ha don’t remain in the dimension you feel at home in you’re so sexy aha you have a moral obligation to live out a specific set of expectations that has been foisted upon you by western society please come conform to them it’s the only way to be truly happy
your emotionally abusive parents miss you come back to the real world and make amends it’s immature and immoral of you to want to remain in a world where you have agency and are not systematically oppressed
Not now, kitten, m- da- m- your parental figure is in the middle of a gender crisis
Well, that made me happy. 😌🎠❄️

if u get into neopaganism u really have to spend the first like 2 years sorting out all the bullshit and finding out how much of it is either completely made up or outright stolen from other cultures and then go from there. u truly have to experience ego death, academic death, book collection death, and probably 47 other maimings or else you will be stuck believing something some guy said based on nothing in 1987 as your religion. it's harrowing. it's dire.
also frustrating is whenever i talk about this i inevitably run into the edgelords like "well it's ALL made up anyway so who cares ha ha ha." do not interact with me.

Happy 10 year anniversary to this absolutely foundational post
#really cannot emphasize enough how much iguanamouth changed the site’s sense of humor and therefore the timeline of the western world
I got this while scrolling on instagram to try to convince me to join threads and I—

btw I’ve found these stretches from the WAK blog very helpful when knitting a lot:
Plus make sure to take breaks regularly - and stop if anything starts to hurt!
especially with gift knitting I know it can be tempting to push through it for a deadline, but it’s really not worth causing long term injury. (And anyone knit-worthy should be understanding of that, imho.) Stay well :)
Also good for artists drawing with pencils/on a tablet/with a pen!
Also good for writers
Make art, take care!
was someone going to tell me that if you search "spy x family" on duck duck go the icon changes to depict a duck version of the forgers or was i suppossed to find out by chance?

every child should have a specific stuffed animal/toy that they develop an antagonistic relationship with
some of my most significant core memories involved getting into heated arguments with the furby who lived in my closet. essential component of my pre-teen character development. necessary anguish
sometimes small children will inflict years of torment & waterboarding on their victims before burying them in an unmarked concrete grave, that's just part of growing up
the post that keeps on giving (via @zenyeetaa):
#okay we weren’t children when we did this but me and some old roommates kept a baby doll in the freezer #at first it was to jump scare the next person who opened the freezer #but he was in there for a few months and then when we decided it was time to pull it out a bunch of fires broke out across our county #so we put him back in the freezer. we named him chippy and drew a mustache on his face #we tried pulling him out of the freezer a few times after that but some horrible event would happen every time without fail #when we moved apartments we had a special cooler to bring chippy with us #as far as i know chippy is still in a freezer somewhere
Here's my real tip for anyone moving out on their own for the first time; when you buy a set of measuring cups or spoons buy ones that have the measurement engraved into the cup/spoon and do NOT buy ones where it's just printed on. Because that ink/paint/ect. can rub off and then you'll have a bunch of useless little spoons and cups you have to get rid of bcs they no longer say what size they are. Don't ask me how I know, just trust me that you wanna buy engraved ones.
