it's more than a little irritating when tumblrites get all precious about 4chan. the only reason you think this place is better is because of the people you follow. please keep in mind that tumblr has a thriving TERF community, staff only banned the #reichblr tag this year after a trans woman made a fuss about it (they ban her at minimum once a month), kiwifarms uses the place as a hunting ground, etc etc.

tumblr wasn't created as a right-wing psyop slash grooming habitat for the worst people in the world.

hello I was on the internet when 4chan was created, it was made by a bunch of upper-middle-class teenagers as an anime fan forum. I will put this into words you can understand: 4chan is and was just as much a part of "fandom" as tumblr, livejournal, wattpadd, any of it.

the guy who owns this website wrote an apologist article about Scott Adams when he died.

#does it matter why 4chan was created though #like what it became is/was horrible and spawned shit like kiwifarms #and was instrumental in the rise of gamergate and the internet alt-right movement #tumblr is shit but it's had comparatively little cultural impact

It's so obvious none of these people have ever so much as looked at 4chan, because guess what? Most of the site is just people discussing media and their hobbies. Yknow, exactly what people do here on Tumblr. You could to /tg/ and 95% of it would be indistinguishable from ttrpg discussions here, and a lot of the rest is the piracy thread they have.
