AO3 still doesn’t let you monetize those things on the site, because we don’t want the site to be commercial! Because that’s not what it’s for!

It’s not there for you (generic you) to make money off the efforts of the people who build and maintain the site for free! We aren’t getting paid for the work we do to give you a nice site to use, just like you aren’t getting paid for the work you do to create whatever art you share there. Because fandom is supposed to be a community where we share with each other, and therefore we all benefit.

My normal practice for finding good fic to read is this:

Sort tag by kudos on AO3

Find something that looks intriguing and read that

If it's good, go to author's page and read everything else they're written in this fandom

If author's works are good, go to their bookmarks and see what they've bookmarked for this fandom

Repeat steps 2-4 ad infinitum, or at least until I either run out of good stuff to read or get distracted by another fandom (could take 2-3 months or 2-3 years depending)

Now. Garak/Bashir doesn't have a TON of fic on AO3, compared to some other juggernaut fandoms I've been in. So I figured I'd run out of stuff eventually. Also, since it's such an old fandom, I figured I would have to break out the wayback machine to unearth dead geocities pages, and mourn broken livejournal links.

But Garashir folks are DEDICATED. Every single time I like a fic and go to that author's page to see what else they're written, they've all got somewhere in the realm of 50-70 other fics just in this fandom. Because they've been writing for this pairing for 30 years, and they're STILL GOING. And the quality and length of what they're writing is insane.
