Greetings, my name is Midnight. Although, Starlight and Moonlight are just as fine by me. Also, I use the nickname "Midi," given by @sakiyaki-sashimi... As stated in the blog... description? I'm a Mafuyu fictive, and I'll probably use this blog for personal reblogs and such.
I'm... not sure what else to put. I like space though, and science is nice. So yeah.

The thing that abled people who advocate for the disabled community donât get is that there are times when disabilities/accommodations clash. Horribly.
Like I spent years having to come up with a solution to get therapy dogs into a series of residence halls. Why years? Because we had to decide who got to stay and who got to leave: the people who needed therapy dogs or the people with severe allergies to animals. Who got the alternative housing?Â
Things like fidget toys might seem great for some disabled people but having them in the room could be distracting/overstimulating for others. The same goes with stimming. It canât be helped but neither can the anxiety that another person in the room feels as they watch/hear it. Additionally, something like a weighted blanket might immediately calm one kid down and send the other one into a panic attack due to the claustrophobia it causes. (*Points to myself*)
Every Metro bus in New York City has a series of seats at the front that can be lifted up to accommodate people in wheelchairs but if Iâm in one of those spots then someone with a cane/walker has to journey even further to sit down.
The flashing lights of a fire alarm are there to help deaf/hearing impaired but if theyâre not properly timed, they can also cause a person to have a seizure.
The worst part about all of these is that there is rarely a concrete solution that makes everyone happy/safe. And Iâm not here to offer any because I donât know them. Iâm just here to remind you all that as youâre taking your education/health classes, as youâre reading your textbooks, as youâre preparing to go be an advocate, just remember that there is rarely ever such a thing as a one-size-fits-all solution to advocacy and that something you do that can help one disabled person might actually hinder another.
I have heard this referred to by some in the disability advocacy profession as âduelling disabilitiesâ and itâs definitely something I wish people would be more mindful of when discussing accessibility.
i just came across the term âaccess frictionâ that was coined as an extension of the âcompeting access needsâ to remove the idea of competition, winning and losing
Calling Up Justice is creating a resource on access frictions because there are multiple meanings and applications of the term. Access frict
This is also one of several good reasons the phrase âfully accessibleâ means nothing without further context. Your venue is fully accessible? To whom?

Special shoutout to all the queer, intersex, and trans het folks. Sorry for all the âitâs illegal to be straight this monthâ jokes youâll have to endure. Yâall are still very much part of the community.
this stupid shit has been around for so long and itâs crazy to me there are still people with enough rocks in their brain to believe it. âOughhhhh if you arenât nice to you oppressors theyâll become bigots instead of alliesâ if someoneâs support for marginalized groups hinges entirely on whether or not that group is niceys, theyâre by definition not effective or useful allies and, by admission of this argument, an active danger to the communities theyre supposed to be allied with because they can Enter Bigot Mode the second they become displease
Transphobia is about to be signed into law in the UK. We can fight this.
I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the Mass Lobby at Parliament on June 25th, 11am-4pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.
Last year we broke the record for an LGBT+ mass lobby of Parliament. Will you help us break it again? Join us on 25th June 2026 to demand be
The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It becomes statutory guidance in the UK by the end of June.
Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or donât pass too well.
A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Ask your MP to:
Demand full parliamentary scrutiny, debate, and use their free vote on the EHRC Code of Practice.
Support any motions rejecting the EHRC guidance. As of June 4th, Labour MP Nadia Whittome has submitted a prayer motion - Early Day Motion 240.
Write to Bridget Phillipson, the Minister for Women and Equalities about our concerns
Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.
I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.
It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:
Worried about what to say?
Bring your personal worries about transphobia being signed into law, and trans friends being excluded from public spaces. You are a living person who deserves dignity. Remind your MP of that. You will also get guidance and brochures from Trans Solidarity Alliance that outlines our demands. This is mine from last year.
Money issues?
Trans Solidarity Alliance provides a travel bursary that you can sign up for via the link.
Got a refusal or no response from your MP?Â
Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if theyâre already in Parliament. Even if they donât, theyâre made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.
Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:
Organisations canât provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination.
e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, menâs rugby group including trans men (12.68).
Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee.
If youâre a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from womenâs bathrooms if youâre perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a âthird spaceâ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)
Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73).Â
A womenâs only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).
Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of âlesbianâ, and therefore no longer have legal protections if theyâre discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).
Here is the Good Law Project's better explanation of the EHRC Code.
I have also made a PDF printout of QR codes for the government petition, email your MP tool, and mass lobby link to pass around your communities. DM me and I'll send it to you.

there's some US states where they won't let you put ø or Ăą on your baby's birth certificate, along with ' and -, and it's stupid. we all have unicode now. we all know that people use different languages which use different characters. the name Lucia ĂĂąiguez-Garcia will not be too hard to type or break your computer
Advanced guide to getting in the loop. Supplementary to "Civilization Essentials." If a movie is on this list, then it has one of these: -Po
Not all these movies are necessarily good, but the ones that gave me small pop culture epiphanies. It made me realize that 30%-40% of the jokes from modern sitcoms are references/parodies- and these movies are their source material.
^^ This is also true for socializing. So many people I thought were naturally funny were just doing movie bits.
[I actually do have a job, I am just a big fan of lists and graphs and flow charts etc.]
i have a Black creator I'd like to share !!! âď¸ I haven't seen him on here yet so
casual geographic / mamadou ndiaye !! he makes videos about animals that are equal parts funny & informative, ive always liked animals so I love putting his channel on in the background when I do chores or crafts :p
https://youtube.com/@mndiaye_97?si=9b4cG2IO4QOOwiGe (won't let me embed the link for some reason, sry đ)
he also wrote a book!! i haven't read it yet but I plan on buying it soon :3
You're probably here from TikTok. Welcome. I still have no idea what I'm doing.
Email: [email protected]
He's one of my favorites, I'm always ready when he posts a new video. People were apparently mean to him for his jokes recently, and it's like... Grow up. He makes silly wise cracks but it's very obvious that he's passionate about wildlife and animal care and conservation. Y'all wouldn't last a second in a Black lunchroom đ but yes top recommendation
for my fellow psychotics who struggle with thinking someone is in their house, a method Iâve found that really works are these guys:
i put them on my front door and anytime it opens they ring. that way if i think someone has broken in or i see someone who isnât there i can think back to if the bells have rung, and if they havenât i can assure myself itâs not real. obviously itâs not fool proof, like if you are prone to auditory hallucinations, but it has really helped me calm down in time to avoid major psychotic breaks. itâs a real lifesaver

thereâs sixteen Colorado counties that their most searched was âwolf furryâ, plus thirty-odd counties (not counting either Arapahoe or any of the ones marked here as âInsufficient Dataâ) which may well have had plenty of searches for âwolf furryâ, just fewer than for whatever theyâre labeled here
and âskunk furryâ searches in Arapahoe County outnumbered âwolf furryâ searches in the entire state of Colorado
Was driving with my grandmother and in broken English she says âno eyes⌠no nose⌠no face. Donât trust.â To which I looked around wildly in search of this omen of ill portend.
