You have to be anti-war to care about climate change, and you have to hate the USA to be anti-war.
Since I'm therapist-posting recently:
Legitimately self-compassion is the biggest mental health life hack of all time. I'm NOT talking about self-esteem. You do NOT have to like yourself one bit. You don't have to believe that you're a good person who deserves good things. You just have to believe that you're a person who deserves the things all people deserve.
You can't get from "I'm the Worst" to "I'm a worthy and lovable person" without passing through "I'm just a regular fuckup like everybody else."
Try it on. If you're really addicted to being mean to yourself, you can start by framing it as I'm Not Special. Embrace being a regular fuckup like everybody else.
Can we start hating on "mtf" and "ftm" more please
The main people I've seen using these terms are "TIRFs" (fencesitting TWERFs)/transandrochud crowds who are trying to find stealthy ways of associating trans men with womanhood and trans women with manhood. With a side of trans women who feel like they "have" to label themselves that way or else they're being "misleading."
yeah, I never want to come off as an arbiter of language, but I really agree that it's to our advantage (as trans people interested in liberation) to move away from reproduction & uncritical acceptance of "mtf"/"ftm" constructions.
in addition to the issues you mentioned, "detrans"/"desister" types very frequently leverage these terms to forward things like "ftmtf" as identities. and of course they do--detrans identity relies on transmedicalism for coherence, and the construct of "mtf"/"ftm" is a transmedicalist one.
transness is framed as a set of (required/gatekept) practices for going from "male" to "female," or visa versa, and can be "reversed"/"undone." in the transmedicalist frame, transness is not understood as someone autonomously living outside of sexgender assignment by whatever means they can access, it is someone who is seeking reassignment by an authority. it is not contesting assignment as an institutional process, but expanding it. this is not a liberation-oriented terminology. it's function is submission and permission-seeking.
most centrally to me: the "mtf"/"ftm" framework reifies the idea of "male" and "female" as "biologically pure"--in contrast to an implied "impure" intersex or "mixed" sex subject--rather than illuminating "biological sex" as an ideological project of naturalizing patriarchy through "scientific" knowledge production, which is inseparably interwoven with "scientific" racism.
in my honest opinion, I think widespread uncritical acceptance of these terms (and the naturalization of racialized sexgender on which they rest) contributes to broader trans movements' consistent failure to clearly identify and meaningfully challenge structural intersexualization and racialization processes. I don't think we can dismantle sexgender assignment & enforcement structures unless we can accurately map how they hold up, and are held up by, colonial and racial hierarchies.
(also on a personal level, I've written before about my complete distaste for the term "ftm" being applied to me in a medical context. as a nonbinary person, as far as terms go, you really can’t do worse than one which manages to misgender me twice simultaneously.)

Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.
They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.
Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.
You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.
This article specifically notes:
For journalism, activism, or domestic abuse situations, skip Windows and use Linux routed through Tor instead of a commercial VPN. A GDID doesn’t care which VPN you use, only that it’s still the same Windows installation.
GDID is the persistent Windows ID that helped FBI trace a Scattered Spider hacker despite VPNs. Here's how it works and how to limit it.
Other important quotes:
What has researchers uneasy is everything else the case reveals. Costin Raiu, a well-known malware researcher, asked on the Three Buddy Problem podcast how much of this exists on other platforms, and whether it is linked more permanently to hardware. Matthew Hickey, another security researcher, called Windows “surveillance software”.
Two things back that up:
There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.
Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.

oddities of camena.
every year small towns and indigenous communities across canada are burnt to nothing by horrific wildfires and americans go on the internet to complain about it and blame us bc the smoke has spread to their state. i’m so tired.
go yell at mark carney or your own local politicians about climate change and urge them to do more to stop it. the namaygoosisagagun first nation had their community destroyed today. you can find a link to donate to them here. donate to your local food bank. go to the beach next week when the smoke clears and you don’t have to think about it anymore while the people who’s lives have been destroyed will have to pick up the pieces and try to move forward when we are already in a huge cost of living crisis across the country.
rbing with other places you can donate to to support those impacted by the fires!
true north aid (an organization aimed at providing support to remote/northern indigenous people in canada)
canadian red cross wildfire fund
ontario spca and humane society (links to their donate page specifically aimed at supporting pets and animals in areas impacted by the fires)
and the anishinabek nation’s page where you can donate to support the namaygoosisagagun nation who had their land destroyed by the fires is still accepting donations
are people talking about the labor conditions at Taylor Farms yet? like the fact they use enslaved prisoners in their facilities?
are we drawing the connection between worker safety and consumer safety & public health yet?
are people demanding to see the conditions in this place that keeps making us sick? why are the enslaved workers not having the time to use the bathroom or to rest when ill? very few people would shit in front of their coworkers given any choice at all.
from what i can find from a 30-minute search, they have since stopped actively hiring prison labor for the past couple of years, at least. BUT, taylor farms has been flagged as dangerous and exploitative in general for a while now.

a misogynistic society is so threatened by the concept of trans women - women that "had the opportunity" to be privileged men and chose not to - that they start making up privileges women have in order to explain why trans women exist. going into womens restrooms isnt a privilege, playing womens sports isnt a privilege, lesbianism isnt a privilege, yet they present them as such to try and explain why trans women are women for nefarious reasons. a misogynistic society will never understand that trans women have no ulterior motive for being women
hey white people . if u dont know how to pronounce an ethnic persons name *google it* or if its someone ur talking directly to *ask them*. dont fucking do that "erm i dont know how to pronounce but __" or "im gonna butcher this haha" or "im not even gonna bother trying" . ur not funny. do u know what poc think when they hear u saying that ? u sound like a loser asshole and we dont want to spend time with u . im so fucking tired of watching youtube videos about media from my country and hearing those phrases. im tired of people saying that to my face . i respect someone who clearly looked it up and is tryong but says my name wrong over someone who just goes with whatever bad first guess they had without trying. u have too many resources at ur disposal to keep doing this. for the love of god just Fucking Try. if ur confused Just Try.
I highly recommend Forvo.com, the website where native speakers of a language contribute their time and voices to read words and names in their own language. It is a fantastic way to expand your world, open up your ears, and it's way more likely to nab a hit than just googling.
wow , I didn't know this existed, thanks so much for sharing the resource !! I will absolutely be using it now too 🖤
if phrases like "afab bodies", "amab people", "afab healthcare" ever leave your mouth, you are at best being quite cissexist, and probably (due to the uneven nature of regendering/degendering) being grossly transmisogynist. stop believing in immutable binary sex and start using accurate language.
i feel like a good way of thinking of it is your AGAB isnt a type of body, its something that happens to it, and arbitrarily at that. also lbr, not just cissexist, not just transmisogynist or transphobic in general, if you talk about bodies like there's 2 completely separate types and thats it i dont trust your opinions on intersex people. i honestly doubt these people even think of us 😭
yeah totally. sex assignment is a medical-legal process. an “AMAB” person might not have the body parts that “AMAB bodies” have for any number of reasons (intersex, transsexual, etc)
seeing news about the fallout remaster announcement feels like cruel irony to me
microsoft games are a bds boycott target, and because both bethesda + obsidian are owned by microsoft, this includes the games published by them.
microsoft is gonna further profit from a new virtual playground of ~post-apocalyptic bombed out towns in the desert~ while contributing to creating bombed out apocalyptic conditions in gazan towns, by collaborating with israel on so many fronts that bds calls microsoft the most complicit company in palestinian genocide.
and nostalgia-baited fans will still buy it bc playing pretend in a virtual world thats a knockoff of what real life people are currently facing – a virtual world funded by that very suffering of those real life people – is more important to them than simply playing a different game
anyway, to make this rant productive – if you have the means to send donations to palestine, heres some community initiatives:
Mona’s community aid initiative – verified by el-shab-hussein
The Sameer Project – has a british partner org, so UK folks can donate with gift aid here with no transfer fees
Revive Gaza Farmlands – has a canadian partner org, so canadians can donate via direct bank transfers with no transfer fee
Crips for eSims for Gaza – canda-based, so canadian e-transfers saves on transaction fees

And she wonders why people hate her?
sex criminal j k rowling bullies amnesty international into retracting unbiased report about genocidal risks, after paying for the manufacture of a scottish devolution crisis over the same issue
I don't know how to address this properly because I feel like every time I write about it I get the same misunderstandings from every direction.
the thing happening right now (at the very least in the US and UK) is that trans youth are actively and systemically losing access to healthcare. this has been gradually escalating since the start of the pandemic, and more young people lose healthcare every single year.
when I talk about this I tend to get two responses
"why do trans adults want to expand these experimental treatments to children who can't consent"
"providers offering care to trans adults is a step in the right direction, even if they aren't offering it to trans youth. the perfect is the enemy of the good. we can't fight our allies."
do you see how both the overtly transphobic version and the nominally "pro-trans" version replicate the same misinformation?
this is not a question of "should we expand access to trans youth?" trans youth have had access to medical transition care for a long time. what is happening is the care they already had access to is being made inaccessible and then criminalized systematically.
am I making sense? places refusing to offer care to trans youth are not "a step in the right direction" because that implies that the trend is expanding access that "begins" with trans adults and innately will gradually encompass young people. that is not the case. this is not a hypothetical thing that we can all have different theoretical opinions on. what is happening is the systematic revoking of healthcare.
the further this progresses, the more healthcare is restricted for more demographics. that's how this works. healthcare is being restricted across the board as part of the broader eugenics project. abortion is being restricted. vaccines are becoming more expensive. insurance companies are denying more treatments to disabled people. anti-fatness is surging. ableism is surging. there are active campaigns to get people to mistrust the very idea of healthcare in favor of "wellness" grifts. no one wears N-95 masks. this is the trend. it's been the trend.
I don't know how to communicate that we are not at an early step in a progressive trajectory, we are mid-stage in a eugenic order. please understand what I'm saying.
