my phone refusing to charge even tho I left it plugged in all night is truly the ultimate betrayal
stache struggles
I want to read but I can't decide what to read 😭
like should I try to finish the book I started weeks ago that I don't really like, should I reread Rebecca, should I start one of the other du Maurier books I bought, should I read the book I got from the library (that I already read in spanish but wanted to check out the translation)
I should be able to read at least TEN books simultaneously, this isn't fair
Some quick research suggests that only Scots English still uses "gat" as the simple past tense of "to get", with the form surviving in other English dialects only in the archaic "begat" (i.e., the simple past tense of the likewise archaic "to beget"), and I feel like we need to fix that.
Local Man after opening Pandora's Box of Non-Standard English Verb Forms: "He choosed his path, clomb this hill to die on, torned off the chains of prescriptive grammar and drunked from this newfound power; but later he had understanden that he had letten himself grow mad with power, he had shutten the voice of reason advising him against this foolery, he had putten himself on this path of chaos and destruction, setten himself on this one way street, standen on top of a mountain of hubris, forgetten wisdom, and for his trouble had getten only the means of his own downfall" [all of those are attested by the way, this isn't just me making stuff up at random]
The thing you need to understand is that my baseline motivation is causing problems on purpose.

"Tennis at the country house of Basil Rathbone (Great Britain, November 1936)" from Marlene Dietrich's home movies (x)
Home movies tend to be a bit fast, so I've slowed it down a little to make it look more natural
an interest passing feels like being abandoned by the evil spirit that had taken possession of your body
pulling out hanks of grass and sighing listlessly. i kind of miss being posessed. isn't there an evil spirit somewhere that wants to possess meeee
Another bookbinding project! Quicksilver by Fitzroy Davis is a 600-page novel, which was too thick to bind as a single paperback, so I split it into two parts.
I had quite a few difficulties with this project, partly owing to the rarity of the book. Despite being in the public domain, there are few copies of the book available online (one is on the Internet Archive, if anyone is interested in reading it!). I took a PDF and cropped the pages to fit them into the 5.5x8.5in paper, which was not ideal for margins or the quality of the print, but it somehow worked out! I also ran into some difficulties with the text block cutting for the second part, which forced me to reinforce the spine with tape (the tape on the first part is merely to match).
For the dust jacket, I couldn't find a clear picture of the original one from 1942, so I had to improvise. The picture on the first dust jacket features the Empire Theater in New York in 1922. On the second is a balcony scene from the 1934 Romeo and Juliet production (featuring Katharine Cornell as Juliet and Basil Rathbone as Romeo) from Katharine Cornell's U.S. tour that the book is supposedly based on. Honestly, I'm absolutely in love with the covers!!
For anyone curious, the novel is about a group of bit players in a theatrical company who are touring the U.S. performing Romeo and Juliet. The book is from the 1940s, so be warned that there is some period-typical homophobia and antisemitism, and outdated language. Still, it's an interesting look at the world of theatre and theatrical touring companies in the 1930s.
Hey if you See This can you reblog this or comment on this with a character you headcanon as aromantic, asexual, or both. It can be canon it can be founded on absolutely nothing I just need more aroace stuff on here #yay
you have to forgive the printer because it's one of the most machine-ass machines we interact with on a day to day basis. that thing says kerchunk. hardly anything says kerchunk these days. you can't get mad at her when she kerchunks up a little.
Crazy that tech has gotten so bad that we're doing printer forgiveness now

do you ever just … picture a whole scene, a whole fanfiction in your head, you know how to place every single word of the english dictionary that you need (or your language dictionary), you know how to structure your sentences, you know just what your characters are going to say to each other and then… and then you just open microsoft word.
Its the doc! The blank document steals the ideas from. Your brain!!!! If you want to keep your ideas,, do NOT look at the doc when you open it, look STRAIGHT* AT THE KEYBOARD and write the first words to pop into your head! Once the document isn't empty it, takes away its evil power over you
two things:
the mental image of that is hilarious
it might just work
Wanted to share my first bookbinding project because it's still my absolute favourite (even after having made a handful of them)!!
The dust jacket (garish colour included unfortunately) is based off the original dust jacket for the 1926 edition, though I added the reviews on the back so it wouldn't be so plain. I also took some liberties with the photos I included because the ones in the original version didn't have enough Basil Rathbone in them for my taste lol
The play is available on the Internet Archive and the photos are from the NYPL Digital Collections.
Indigenous peoples of the great plains should've never told white people about tornadoes. "I don't know man that shit never happened before you showed up"
ok i absolutely need to know what accents u all have pls reblog and tell me or comment or whatever I must know
I am looking neither respectfully nor disrespectfully. I gaze without recognition of your form, and without understanding.

We should popularize more hispanized phonetic spellings of classic character names like we did with esnupi
Citripio y Arturito
