my review: how does questioningly manage it? i must know. the story is told largely from the pov of dan feng and blade and yet jing yuan's loneliness and heartbreak, it practically seeps from the pages. this is my favorite of all of questioningly's jing yuan fics and a comfort go-to i have re-read 15 times. please, if you have yet to read it, treat yoself.

my review: all of dacia's renhengjing fics are amazing and wonderful, but this is far and away my favorite. i was crying as i read this and didn't stop sobbing long after i finished it -- i slept very little that night. dacia's characterisation of jing yuan and their description of his thought processes is amazing and absolutely top notch. i re-read this fic frequently. i cannot recommend enough. legendary. note, intersex dan heng with both AFAB and AMAB genitals.

my review: onysuminyasai has a talent for storytelling. the picture they painted of this au is so well-done. their depiction of an authoritarian regime and the struggle that blade and jing yuan go through... it is so realistic it is horrifying. genuinely at some points i was nauseous. it's not gory... just the horror that is reality. i was so awestruck by this fic, i spent a week telling all my friends about it when i was done reading. a masterpiece.

my review: bittersweetResilience is a reigning monarch in the renjing fandom, who always delivers a gut-punching heart-wrenching angst experience in their interpretation of renjing, and out of their impressive body of work, 大鱼 has got to be their magnum opus. not only is it a compelling exploration of jing yuan's character, but also a glorious composition, the way bittersweetResilience tells this in non-chronological scenes and ties it all together in a magnificent crescendo. prose heavy, but goddamn is it good prose. re-read frequently. a legend.
