Frankly i think paleontologists have been far too quick to dismiss the theory that trains used their many long carriages like snorkels, keeping their engines above water as they crossed the shallow inland seas of the north american continent millions of years ago. The claim that their sturdy steel and aluminum frames would not have been able to support their lungs under the water pressure ignores the fact that many freight train sets include reinforced or even armored cars, which could have provided ample support to the vascular system.
