i'm sort of having a mild brain fog moment rn so i can't fully articulate what i'm on about, but i think a lot of able-bodied artists view things like canes and crutches as interchangeable. and they often don't know enough about the wide range of mobility aids to make an informed decision about what their character might actually use based on their disability

I think so, yeah, and there are quite a few comics that outright state that he is still deep down that boy in an alley, or something along those lines (and I don't have most of them on hand lmao xD) here is him randomly hallucinating his father and responding like a little boy in Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #58 (1994)

I usually think of it like this:

You have a friend; they have 3 jobs.

They have a job as a engineer, a cashier, and a janitor.

You wouldn't go to your friend in each job and ask "Are you the same guy I know????" - You know it's the exact same friend at each job, even though they're doing something different at each job.

Or think of it in gaming terms:

It's like someone with three different characters in a game. They switch between each character whenever needed, but you know it's the exact same person controlling each character, despite the different skills/class abilities.

But then I check the comics... he's almost always gravitating towards Bruce and bobbing like an eager duckling after his brothers + Steph. He melts into hugs and loves having his face/head cradled. His parents kiss his forehead in every comic run he's ever been in.

He is comically shorter compared to most characters. He is almost always grinning and cackling like a playful, conniving child; if not that, he's huffing and pouting and looking around for someone to bother because he's bored and wants attention.

He has playground friends like Maps that he draws for when he's figuring out words to put to meaning his adoration of them, like an actual shy child making friends.

He's a brilliant kid, but emphasis on the "kid" like yes I knew that, I'm so great, everyone praise me and give me head pats I'm so amazing

Visualize with me. Pathetic, weak and whimpering Clark clutching onto Bruce’s thighs desperately barely able to form a word. Bruce is telling him to use his words though. Using one of those classic lines.

“I can’t give you what you want if you don’t tell me, Clark.”

He’s trying and pleading but nothing comes out other than pathetic whimpers sobs. Whatever attempts at trying to get him to give him some sort of pressure or pain in every spot he likes falls teasingly flat as he’s continuously told to use his words.

Bruce his only ever gently pressing the heels of his dress shoes into his thigh as he urges him speak up. Something like:

“I’d love to give you want you want. But you have to tell me what it is.”

LIKE YES?? DO YOU SEE THE VISION??? AM I NOT GENIUS FOR THIS??

And I present to you, reporter Clark Kent accidentally getting stuck between the 3 holy faces of billionaires aka Bruce Wayne, Oliver Queen and Alex Luthor and somehow getting roped into playing a VERY passive aggressive game of FMK where he accidentally ends up blurting out about how much he would like to marry Batman and rawdog him while the man is wearing his batsuit and growling in his ears to put his back into fucking him(at no point of this ridiculous conundrum is he aware of the fact that Bruce Wayne, is indeed, The Batman)
