Like the thing that's so irritating about summer depression is the goddamn fatigue. I want to do things, I don't even want to be out doing summer things, I just want to function and I fucking can't because I'm too sleepy all the fucking time. Except at night. And there's some kind of demon hunter guy who, like rode a motorbike from Greece? Because he was summoned to deal with this shit, perhaps.
I mean, it was fine. Lotsa lasery visual effects and the smoke machine was working overtime. Uh, it's just sort of like a demon is trying to get out but then demon hunter guy puts it back. There are Nazis who are terrible and the demon or whatever kills a bunch of 'em, so that's fun. But overall sort of incoherent, and only partially because of the poor audio quality.

I started, let's see, book number...fifty-eight? today, so like. House tasks and listening to a re-framing of human history outside of a western European philosophical mindset. So.
The Beach House (2019)
Oh god, and again with a double booked vacation home. This time, it's his dad's house that he assumes will be vacant for him and his obviously miserable girlfriend to have lackluster sex in, and turns out that friends of his dad's are there for the weekend. It's fine. It'll be fine.
I mean, I was like, "girl, dump him" before he told her she should quit school to live with him in a tourist town and have lackluster sex all the time. And turns out she's a chemistry major who wants to go to grad school for astrobiology. Girl: Dump. Him.
Girl, something is wrong with the air. You keep saying it's thick, what does that mean? Humidity? Wildfire smoke? The Horrors? Girl, check the air quality app.
Like the other characters in this film, I am also high and listening to someone yap about astrobiology. It's great.
Oh no, weed!brain is being real weird about this one.
Boyfriend guy: gets squirrely and runs off to the bathroom Weed!brain: oh no, his eggs! Me: His...what. Weed!brain: His...eggs?
And later,
Older guy: walks straight into the water, never to be seen or heard from again Weed!brin: Oh no, his eggs must return to the sea Me: No. Weed!brain: but his- Me: We're not doing that.
Note: at no point does the film suggest that anyone gets eggs put in them! Yes, uh, Emily pulls a horrifying worm out of a disgusting foot wound with a pair of tongs, but there aren't eggs. This is a "thing that kills everyone dead" event. Oh also:
Weed!brain: what if our red string of fate was a worm that burrowed into our flesh <3 Me: Jesus fucking Christ.
Anyway, what a banger! Worms in feet, vomiting jellyfish, lots of gross body horror. I didn't expect to like it this much because the set up is what it is and the boyfriend is so terrible, but like, it really picks up once their edibles start kicking in, and more so when shit gets weird. I actually really liked Emily, especially that she was the smart scientist character, so she...kind gets what's happening. Again: an everybody dies situation, but I love an intelligent main character.
