Paid for paralives while it was on sale for the early access. It's probably unhealthy that I've been making the same sim for my sim to marry since Sims 1 isn't it?
puts my uncomfortably wet hand on your shoulder. see here, gay boy- can i call you gay boy?
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.

some hyper famous artists like Van Gogh transcend overratedness and become underrated because they're so normalized. Like I'll look at a van Gogh and I'm like wait this really is amazing you guys don't get it
Shakespeare is like this
Every time I see a Van Gogh that’s not one of his better known pieces it absolutely blows me away
Have you seen this shit my liege? smh unreal
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges
Disagree. Keep using google it even when using DuckDuckGo so they lose the trademark
I want someone to hold me like Batman holds his alien starfish son

a fascinating number of people have really found themselves agreeing w/ nazi rhetoric on israel & zionism and said “maybe the nazis have a point after all!” instead of “Wait Fuck”
“even david duke the nazi agrees with us about israel!” okay now try thinking with your brain

what do christians mean when they say jesus fulfilled the law? whenever i am arguing with people who are trying to proselytize people keep saying this as though the meaning is obvious but it’s not 😭
To my understanding from a class I took last year, it means that the purpose of the law was essentially replaced by Jesus, that is the law is no longer necessary because Jesus fulfills the same purpose
He's supposed to be like a permanent Passover lamb, atoning for all sins past present and future
Filling out my ballot got me like

“I would kill to have a 90s comic writer explain how they thought the internet worked”
From what i can gather, something between the grid from tron and the digital world from digimon. Though to be fair, it may not have been so much “thought that’s how it works” as “thought it would be more interesting”.
Well then what I need from more 90s comics are adorable critters that turn into everyone's edgy deviantart OC covered in bright red scars and giant guns and-
*remembers 90s comics*
...fuck maybe it IS the digital world...
As a 90s kid (born in 83), I can confirm that most writers thought a computer was its own world. Which leads to some horrific impiications now that I think about it.
It MIGHT, in fact, have been a series of tubes
I just want to see what these computer people think of 4chan.
By the way, the "computer world" trope is nothing new; the 80s had the same general idea.
I'd love to tell you what the writer of the Heroes comics in the 2000s thought the internet was. A sentient being that allowed humans to access its knowledge. Oh and people with tech powers could indeed travel through it from style

The myth that “masculinity is always privileged over femininity” has gone so far that people literally tell trans men “no one is stopping you from being a man or masculine” to trans men/mascs like transphobia doesn’t exist.
masculinity is always privileged over femininity therefore m/m couples are privileged over m/f couples -some people probably

I have no idea what the average person knows about the news because I spend more on news subscriptions than streaming subscriptions but every time I hear someone ask "why isn't the media covering X" it was, like, the headline in Bloomberg the previous day]
And sometimes, it's posted by someone who has significantly more followers than Bloomberg has subscribers so like, they are the news at that point.
