One of my favorite things about loving someone or developing a closeness or fondness towards someone is also loving and developing a fondness for the things they care about. When you learn to see the world in a new way, or you learn to appreciate the things you’ve previously overlooked, or they become your excuse to get into an interest you always thought was cool but thought you didn’t have time for. When a connection makes your world bigger and warmer and fuller and more beautiful.
i’m so glad goncharov happened pre ai slop era
#weird way to describe 1973 but i guess it’s accurate
Grantaire needs Enjolras to be perfect and beautiful and untouchable, because if he’s not then he’s just a man who doesn’t love him

Good morning everyone
controversial opinion but. jin guangyao does everything he does in canon in hopes of finally securing an unshakeable and safe position in society, in which he is not treated like shit, looked down upon, and he no longer has to claw desperately and kiss ass of people he hates to get basic respect. yes unfortunately this does snowball out of control and into "hey thats super fucked up, you ever heard of the sunk cost fallacy?" territory.
therefore i do not think a modern au jgy would be inherently duplicitous nor a big villain. depending on how you write him, or where you write him (i.e. diaspora in a culture without strong filial piety) he may not even give a shit about his father. in a modern world where his standing is not so dependent upon who his parents are, he could very well just be a regular, non-villainous dude who gets weirdly kira-like about rusong's school board or an HOA or office politics.
and tbh i think thats way more interesting than reading yet another modern au where you just know jgy's character for some reason is going to be a treasonous turncoat who cannot be trusted, thus negating any possible sense of interest or suspense in his character's presence/plotline.
I personally think that the best part about Legends is the fact that they all actually care about each other. Have you ever noticed how you're watching a movie or show centered around a group of heroes and none of them actually care about each other? It's different with Legends because they go around to different time periods where a majority of the team probably isn't welcome and as soon as anyone starts being racist or misogynistic or homophobic the whole entire team is defending them.
Ooh. This is SO GEN X.... hopefully some of you younger ones will get it too.
I can't believe they left out the most important one...

genuinely one of the saddest parts of this new era of the internet is how hard it is to rick roll someone now. with people's attention spans shortening so much, they wouldn't even get through the first few bait seconds before clicking off the video. like i saw a comment that ended with "btw i made all of this up" and the replies kept treating it so seriously because none of them finished the entire 4 sentence comment. and We're no strangers to love You know the rules and so do I (do I) A full commitment's what I'm thinking of You wouldn't get this from any other guy I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling Gotta make you understand Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
I don’t care that Christmas is over
I love this but I feel like the assigned alignments are totally out of whack. In the cooking side manga, Qifrey is *always* eager to bust out a new wizard gadget for kitchen use. Alton Brown's strongest hater. In his day to day he does a lot more of looking for magical applications to mundane problems, so Of Course he's at the cutting edge of novel ways to incorporate wizard shit into household activities.
Olruggio, meanwhile, is all about surprising his man and the girls with what you can achieve in the kitchen *without* magic and surprising them with shit that looks like it has to be magic at first glance, that he did at least mostly mundanely. Makes sense that since he's way more of a sweatshop craftsman for magic items, he wants to not think about it when he doesn't have to.
The girlies are absolutely aligned properly though. Riche and Agott absolutely want to start busting out the dremels to make gingerbread. Loading piping bags into a caulk gun.
while my mom was pregnant with me, she was delivering chinese food on bike in new orleans. i like to think that the music she heard in the streets made me the way i am now.
happy new year everyone!
Finished animating another cut :)
unbelievable art moment is when. You're introduced to qifrey and olruggio as the water and fire witch and you're like "mmhm OK that's gay dynamic obviously but I don't know what about their character designs inform me about their traits let alone their magic specialties" and then years later you get hit with the silverwood and star parallels and it's like. Oh. qifreys all white robes and how olruggio looks like a star against the night sky. ok.

I love that witch society is inaccessible even for Beldaruit
And by "love" I mean in the literary sense, in that it's an excellent depiction of how systemic ableism works.
Beldaruit is privileged in a lot of ways! Being able to know about magic at all is a privilege. He is one of the three wise. He has personal and political power akin to royalty in this world. His sealchair is much more complex and advanced than Custas' (and, mind you, even the barebones version is prohibitively expensive/difficult to replace).
But when the girls are passing their test, one of the spells they use is to widen the stairway... because even Beldaruit can't move around the Great hall normally. He has to use smoke-sculpture copies to get most places and talk to people. This is the heart of their society, this is the place that should have everything a witch could ever want, and one of their three most powerful members can't move around it freely.
The hall could have been build with wide passages and spiraling ramps. But it wasn't. (This is often true in real life too- building something to be accessible from the get-go isn't hard, it's converting or altering something that becomes complicated or expensive). But even if they didn't think of that when the Hall was first built, someone could have done something once Beldaruit was one of the three wise. Considering a group of teenagers could come up with the spell that widened the hallway, it can't actually have been highly advanced.
But nobody did. Not necessarily out of malice, but because nobody thought to. It's one of the core ways ableism persists, and it's something that WHA constantly returns to as a theme, and even has some characters like Tartah say explicitly. The accommodations that would make life better for people aren't necessarily hard to do, but unless a person struggles with the barrier themselves, or pays attention to others who do, they never cross people's minds or go long overlooked.
What do you think beldaruit thought when Olruggio became Qifrey’s watchful eye
