I had wondered why pete was completely unaffected from li pou's life force severing ritual on niran because what happens to one should happen to the other since their souls are thethered, but then I remembered pete's still wearing niran's necklace and wonder if it protected pete from having his life force severed too.

Thinking about Niran and the way he pulls back into himself after every major decision he makes without consulting Pete (soul binding, freeing Qi Rong and Ploy) thinking that he's finally done it and that this is the final straw and bracing himself for Pete's anger and resentement only to be met with understanding and love and resassurance.
