Sorting beads brings me so much joy

I bought these from a craft supply thrift store in Rhode Island. Dug through the bins and bins of beads for over thirty minutes trying to find sets of similar shapes and colors. My partner found a lot of the larger beads with interesting textures and materials.

Down the street from me are the biggest most beautiful hydrangeas ever. This is a very small zoom in shot, bush is like a story tall and there’s another bush of the same size right next to it. Each summer I look forward to seeing these blooms.

One time when I was younger I had a fun interaction with a ‘celebrity’ having to do with hydrangeas. The reporter for Vice named Dec posted to his insta story that he had purchased a small potted hydrangea but could not remember the English name for them. He only knew them as ajisai (紫陽花) which is their Japanese name. I responded and gave him planting tips (he was going to keep it as a houseplant which would not have worked). He responded to my reply and we had a nice conversation about the flowers. The next summer I sent him a photo of a gorgeous bush I saw while on vacation and he and I talked again. It was nice to bond with a stranger over these beautiful flowers.
