distance just makes my heart grow for you and everything I want for us to do (x)
You’re dying, Stiles. And now everyone you care about is dying too.
save the fucking world, if pressed.
firefly!au
bleep0bleep posted an edit of derek as captain mal, and deleted-scenes brought up the idea of Captain Stiles and Companion Derek. I somehow got it into my head that despite the abundance of ficspiration here, I was going to go in the complete opposite direction and do a Wash!Stiles and Zoe!Derek get-together fic. I have no idea what i’m doing.
“‘Our pack finally has a home, Allison. We can settle down, have a place of our own. This territory is finally ours. We’re safe now.’”
“‘Oh Scott, with the alpha pack gone, our pups can live in peace. Here, in Our Land.’”
There’s the sound of someone clearing their throat somewhere in the vicinity of the door. Stiles jumps about 12 feet, sending his little wolf figurines that he’d bought at the last starbase sailing into the air.
“Jeez man, you ever heard about knocking?” he asks, scrambling to grab the wolves before they hit the floor. They were kinda pricey, okay, give him a break. He glares at the door to the cockpit where Derek is casually leaning against the frame, grinning widely. It’s totally not fair for him to look that good when making fun of Stiles. There’s gotta be some kind of karmic rule about that. He keeps eyeing Derek and starts to line his figurines up on the dash.
“It’s the cockpit Stiles. This is a public space,” Derek says, and walks forward to grab one of the wolves. He fingers it lightly, and continues, “Besides, aren’t you supposed to be, you know, flying? Playing with toys isn’t exactly in your job description.”
Stiles snatches the little wolf back and turns to place it next to its brethren. “They aren’t toys, okay, they’re figurines. Collectibles, you know? Also, why are you even here?”
Derek scoffs at that. Stiles scowls.
“And public place or not, which I’m liable to argue that it isn’t seeing as it’s quite literally my office, I’m in control of where and how this boat flies,” Stiles whirls back around to point at Derek, jabbing his finger for effect, “and being a sneaky sneaker who sneaks is terrible idea around the guy who has access to the emergency cutoff switch for the artificial gravity,” he settles back with a smug grin. Take that, unfairly attractive first mate with control issues.
Derek just rolls his eyes and turns to leave. Real conversationalist that guy. Stiles just watches him go for second, admiring the view, until he realizes something.
“You never actually told me why you were here!” he yells after him.
Later Stiles figures it was probably about the Captain. He gets a message from Scott that he’s stuck on the planet without his gear. When they pick him up, Scott’s just sitting buck naked on a rock in the middle of the desert. Stiles howls with laughter and promises to give him a stern lecture later about falling in love with dangerous women that Scott is bound to ignore.
But for now, all Stiles gets is a melodious laughter trickling in from the hallway Derek’s just disappeared down, and the distinct feeling that there’s something he’s missing.

you know you can say violence doesn't solve anything all you want but the reality is violence has been the go to response of humanity since the dawn of time and what you have to understand is i want to get punched in the face
You’re one of the Hundred.
tried working for a new pizza place to earn money while I work at getting hired in archaeology. and it sucks lmao.
it is slow, and boring, and inefficient. there's no energy, it's not challenging, and i don't feel like I've won something when I'm done. none of the processes are streamlined, and I don't get to yell at asshole college kids. none of the fun parts of night shift, all of the stuff I hated about working day shift at my previous place. no line out the door, no feeling like we went through the trenches together, no insane shenanigans from the local kids like getting flashed by girls in giant fur coats or mobbed by like 600 kids who turn our front patio into a mosh pit. no fights. (I miss fighting).
starting to realize what I liked abt my previous job was that it was hard, and exciting, not what I was doing. but also realizing that the owner at my previous place absolutely expected wayyyy more out of us than literally any other comparable employer of kitchen staff. no wonder we all burned out and he drove himself fucking nuts. get fucked mark mcclurg, hope your restaurant flops.

the most entp thing I've ever done is try to figure out how to make an actual flying broom when I was like, 8.
there were diagrams. and I was reading about small scale ways of making energy and lightweight engines and planning the counterweight at the front.
now this obviously would not have worked in any capacity. but it was a fun exercise.
I later did this again with the iron man suit.

today's reason I fucking love the open source community: Ageless Linux, a brand new Debian-based operating system specifically designed to break the law by giving children access to computers that explicitly refuse to track their age.
reblog this post to help a child break the law
oh goddamn this whole page goes so hard actually, please go read it. what an impressive, visceral takedown of this dumb law
As of June 29, 2026 the law discussed here is a recently passed California state law (AB 1043) that requires age validation before using a computer connected to the internet. This is expected to happen at the operating system level, when you login to Windows, MacOS, Linux, etc.
Ageless Linux intends to force the issue before the California state supreme court, then ultimately (probably) the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS). It's a stupid, dangerous law, voted into place by legislators who either don't understand the core issue OR knowingly voted for it because they're assholes.
California is an influential state in the US. Many laws & regulations passed there eventually trickle out to most states. That's why it's worrisome to see this kind of thing rammed through, and why it's important to fight it.
Also, it doesn't matter if you use Linux or not. Or whether you live in California or not. Visit their site, read the text, learn what's going on with access to computing in this hellscape timeline.

being as i am an idiot, and having been one my whole life, i just wanna say that i find it very easy to do nothing, and go nowhere. i eat chocolate late at night in the dark. i stand in the garden also. and i’m often waiting for something to happen. and i’m stupid.
I’m paying to force seven thousand strangers to see a photo of my late husband having fun with his dog. Tumblr Blaze is totally worth it. XD
Thank-you to all of my new Internet stranger friends for being so gracious about having my post shoved onto your dashboards. I loved reading all of your kind tags and comments! Both Martin and Bosco have been gone for several years now but for 24 hours, they felt very present in my life. I greatly appreciate this gift. ❤️
Reblog to have your dashboard be visited by the spirit of joy that death can end but not erase.
Thank you to everyone who commented in their tags or messaged me. Indeed, today is “Martin and Bosco Day”. I originally whimsically blazed this photo on 13 July 2022. I never expected Martin and Bosco to travel so far and make so many new friends. The experience has been such a gift for me.
