Any of you remember this post? Guess who's now added season two?
THE PITT LINES AND SCENES DISTRIBUTION SPREADSHEET
If you're only here for the spreadsheet, there is is. Go for it. I'm going to go over the basic numbers of this season like I did with the last, and then we're going to compare the two seasons.
I'm not taking a stance in this post in particular, this is purely for numbers. If you want me to find more numbers for other distributions or things to compare, let me know.
I did twenty-four characters in total. Here is the first pie chart related to actual line distribution. In this I included the "other" category to account for the total amount of lines in the show.
The season had a total of 10.58k lines. This chart rounds to the point ones place, but the spreadsheet goes to the point tens, if you're interested in a more detailed distribution.
Our top five contributors (excluding other):
Robby - 14.8% of the total lines with 1.56k
Dana - 6.2% of the total lines with 659
Langdon - 5.4% of the total lines with 575
Santos - 5.4% of the total lines with 571
Whitaker - 5.3% of the total lines with 557
How does that compare to our scene total?
These were determined by the scenes in which a named character has at least one line. The character appearing in the scene does not count. This is specifically for speaking roles in scenes.
There are 523 scenes total within the show (if you want to know, 2x11 has the most at 44 and 2x15 has the least with 26). Again, full breakdown across episodes in the spreadsheet.
Who's our top five? It changes a little, but honestly, not much.
Robby - 41% of all scenes, 214 total
Dana - 24.9% of all scenes, 130 total
Al-Hashimi - 22.9% of all scenes, 120 total
Langdon - 22.2% of all scenes, 116 total
Whitaker- 22.3% of all scenes, 106 total
The fact that it stays almost exactly the same whereas as it did last season
I think this is all really interesting to me, so now let's get into how these compare to last season. All under the cut.
Here's where the cool cats are.
Alright, first we're going to look at the two charts side by side, and then into statistical changes between sesasons.
I love staring at these. It's a really interesting change between seasons, really.
Alright, on to the differences between seasons.
SEASON ONE IS HIGHLIGHTED IN RED. SEASON TWO IS IN PINK. IF THEY HAVE LESS LINES/SCENES IN SEASON TWO, THEY ARE IN PURPLE. IF THEY HAVE MORE, THEY ARE IN BLUE.
S1: LINES - 621/6% || SCENES - 117/22%
S2: LINES - 575/5.4% || SCENES - 116/22.2%
DIFFERENCE: LINES - -46/0.6% || SCENES - -1/+0.2%
While technically he is up in his scene percentage, he is in one less scene so I still highlighted in purple. The change is just due to a smaller amount of scenes this season.

Basic Fandom Etiquette Everyone Needs to Remember:
Creators do not owe anyone content. Do not ask writers when they will update.
If an author did not ask for [negative] criticism , do not give criticism.
Read the tags carefully before reading a fanfic.
If you ignored the tags and were upset, that is your responsibility, not the creator’s.
Disliking a ship does NOT give you the right to attack people who enjoy it.
Do not tell authors or shippers that their ship is “disgusting,” “wrong,” or “shouldn’t exist.” Shipping fictional characters is not a moral failing.
No one is obligated to justify why they ship two fictional characters.
Headcanons are PERSONAL interpretations, not universal truth.
Dark themes in fiction do not equal real life beliefs or intentions.
Leaving kudos or short positive comments genuinely matters.
Not every fanwork is made for you, and that is okay.
Scrolling past content you dislike is better than engaging negatively
Enjoying a fandom later than others does not make someone less of a fan.
Disliking a fanfic does not entitle you to announce that to its creator. Sending hate comments to authors is NEVER justified, even if you disliked the work.
Mel practically hanging onto his arm like a monkey.
Langdon dropping everything when he saw she was hurt.
He made a joke to make her laugh and she was able to read the humor in his smile like a book whereas other times the jokes go over her head.
She then made a joke from a year prior that only he would understand, and he still remembered.
Dana and Perlah being confused and hit with "it's an inside thing".
Mel being uncomfortable and overstimulated and Langdon clocking that shit IMMEDIATELY.
Langdon ushering the police out of her room to give her space and even turning off the lights to make sure she won't be overstimulated and giving her a safe, quiet space to decompress.
All the little things between them is making me insane.

“you’re talking to yourself again” because she’s been left hanging so much!! all the time!! so she’s used to it. now i’m in desperate need of mel to ramble in front of langdon, kind of drifting away mid-thought and then turning around, surprised to find him still there, still listening to her
I work with kids and I've had two occasions where a little boy straight up won't listen to anything I say because I'm a woman. and like yeah he's gonna continue to be raised by terrible role models and probably grow up to be a sexist douchebag but I have three hours a week to get through to him and so far I'm crushing it. I got six year old boys who previously didn't listen to a word I said telling their shitty dads to not speak to me like that. yeah that's right I'm the teacher making your kid woke. go fuck yourself about it.
you left your kid with me and I taught him that women are people. and also to question authority. and also how to kick someone in the nuts. have fun with that.
honestly there's nothing that's going to work for every kid but I've found just turning kid behavior back on them usually works pretty well. like if they say something about "girls are like this and boys are like that" be like why. why. why. why. exactly the way little kids do. they'll try to come up with an answer but usually after like five rounds of me asking why they'll eventually be like huh. idk.
in my case it definitely helps that I teach kids martial arts classes at a boxing gym with a lot of women. so little boys just factually cannot tell me that girls can't fight or aren't strong or something, because they're constantly surrounded by proof that isn't true. also rules are very different in a boxing gym so if a kid is being a little shit I'm allowed to pick them up and put them in upside down air jail. you probably can't do this in most contexts.
I think the biggest thing is that they need to see men and other boys listening to women. they're following the example that's been set for that. at home maybe their dad never listens to their mom, but when they show up at my class all the other boys are following my instructions. peer pressure is real and you can use it to your advantage. I make a point to tell the biggest buffest manliest dudes what to do in front of the little boys. now this works because those dudes already listen to me, but getting any dudes to follow your instructions could probably work.
the best punishment is the natural consequences of your behavior. if a kid isn't going to listen to me, he doesn't get to do class. this works because class is fun and he wants to kick stuff and hit people with noodles. kids want to have fun more than they want to misbehave. as long as listening to me is more fun than misbehaving, they'll listen.
because these boys are learning this behavior from their dads, the dads also tend to be the kind of tough strict emotionally distant parents that would yell at "girly" behavior or crying. even when I'm strict with the kids, I never yell, I obviously never hurt them, and I always listen. they want to yap at me about pokemon or youtubers. it can be tough when they're really sexist at the beginning but eventually they will show you something that their dad wouldn't approve of, whether they want a pink noodle or quietly mention they like a girly show. this is the part where you simultaneously act like it's no big deal while encouraging it. you need show it's completely normal for a boy to want or like that. if you can, bring up another boy or man they know who likes the same thing. I always show off my nails to the kids and bring over the guy who also paints his nails. you'll probably get "boys can do that?" comments and I usually just go "well he's a boy and he did it, so unless his hand falls off right now I think it's okay"
for me, it's always eventually gotten to a point where the boys realize that everyone else thinks it's normal to listen to women, and that if they want to have fun they need to listen too. they also realize that these people and these women are nicer and listen to them more than their dad does. they notice how all these nice people that make them happy talk to women very differently than their dad does. when those boys yelled at their dads for being rude to me, I made a point to thank them and say that they were right and their dads were rude.
encouraging the behavior you want to see is even more important than punishing the behavior you don't want to see. you can't tell kids what not to do without giving them something to replace the behavior with.
op this may be a weird addition but! what you are doing reminds me of what is* being done in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North East Syria (Rojava), in deradicalizing children groomed by ISIS as recruits or raised in ISIS-affiliated families.
from the report "Hidden Battlefields: Rehabilitating ISIS Affiliates and Building a Democratic Culture in Their Former Territories":
The value system transmitted by ISIS is also challenged in the classroom, for example by having women teaching and supervising the children. Ms Efrin explains: “These children have been taught by ISIS that it is a huge shame for them to be taught by a woman. In their mind they can only be taught by a man. And they regard anything that we teach them to be unworthy and against their religion, no matter what.”
Female staff report that on their arrival, many of the residents refuse to look the women in the eyes, to shake their hands or to answer to their questions. Ms Derik reports:
“When I first started working here the children were shocked and enraged when they saw me and understood that I would be their teacher. In the first class I gave them they refused to listen or participate. Some even refused to look at me. But after some time and many discussions they started to get used to me and the idea of having a woman as a teacher. Now, if I have been absent for a day, they come up to me and ask where I have been and why I did not come to class. So there is definitely improvement, but it takes time and patience.” The children also learn musical instruments, challenging the ban that ISIS had put on this practice.
*the recent attacks on DAANES by the Syrian government have led to escapes and raids on these camps, which has massively disrupted this system unfortunately
my point here being that we should not despair about little boys being ticking time bombs of misogynistic vitriol. you can't save everyone, but we can be constantly surprised by what consistency and safety and earnest connection with others can do for a person. you are doing an amazing and important job op. i wish you & your students the best!
stupid thing about me is I don’t cut corners but I also have no work ethic. if I do something it WILL be done right. no telling whether I’ll actually fucking do it tho
It's rude to come into my house and assault me like that and some day I may or may not have my revenge. But mark my words, if I do, you will rue the day. You're probably in no danger though.

My library does “stuffed animal sleepovers” where kids leave their stuffed animals at the library overnight. Then the staff lets teenagers in after-hours to arrange the stuffed animals into fun scenes and take a bunch of pictures for the library’s social media. And then the little kids come back the next day and get to see all the pictures of their stuffed animals reading, playing games, riding around the library on book carts, etc 🥹
I don't know who needs to hear this, but the magic ratio for ganache (a firm one, such as you would use to make truffles or enrobe a cake) is 1 tablespoon of heavy cream per one ounce of chocolate. Chop the chocolate (or use chips), then boil the cream, immediately pour it over the chocolate, and whisk until smooth. People get so impressed whenever I make ganache but it is literally so easy. When it's freshly made you can dip fruit or cookies in it or use it to fill doughnuts, and if you let it cool and harden somewhat you can roll spoonfuls into balls to make truffles or use it as a filling for sandwich cookies. Also if you're feeling gremlinous you can just eat it with a spoon.
Important addendum I discovered last year: the above is the magic ratio specifically if you are using dark chocolate (which I always was because it's my favorite). The process is the same, but for milk chocolate the ratio is 1 tablespoon of heavy cream per 1.5oz of chocolate and for white chocolate it's 1 tablespoon of heavy cream per 2oz of chocolate. This is because milk and white chocolate have less chocolate per chocolate so they behave differently. Now you know. Go forth and make delicious ganaches.
Man who sees a weird very supsicious possibly human trafficking organ harvesting scam advert on his local noticeboard that's like "Personal servant required for tutelage in general world affairs," but what the Hell, he's not using his PPE degree, and it's an extra bit of cash
It's not some weirdo wanting a basic crash course in current affairs or the news cycle or how stock crashes happen. It is in fact a several thousand year old vampire who just got woken up when someone found him hibernating in a forgotten castle cupboard for like five centuries
And he's kind of nice, except that he's a bit, you know, feudal, he's not mean or anything, just utterly clueless
And when he says "general world affairs" it's like. Taking him around the supermarket and saying what everything is and how to use a check-out machine and what barcodes are
And the PPE grad is like. Why do you even need to know all this? But the vampire is just like. Well it's all so incredibly interesting, isn't it? Because HE used to be a sea trader and half of what they end up chatting about outside of tutorials IS world shipping logistics. Shared special interest!
