I LOVE COMPLEX DATED ADVERBS. Wherein. Heretofore. Thereon. Hereunto. Whereof. Hitherward. Hereinafter. How can you look at these words and not lose your mind. They're insane. I think I'm in love.
BRING THESE BACK to our normal vernacular! Not overmorrow. Not ereyesterday. Present.
I am laughing so hard oh my god clickhole
If you just scrolled past, donāt. Go back and read it. I promise it is not what you think
Franzen has a point.
Solid stuffs
Donāt let people make fun of you for liking japanese culture.
I am living in japan right now and let me tell ya:
There are people here who canāt speak or understand English who play nothing but Missy elliot and ludacris, even in businesses like housing offices and restaurants.
There are people who have cowboy hats and dead cow skulls in their home because they idolize what they assume American homes are like.
There are people who learn English strictly through music videos and American television shows.
There are entire karaoke bars with english songs often sung by people who have no idea what the lyrics mean.
Japan often takes American shows like the powerpuff girls and make japanese versions of them.
They often mistake common Americans for celebrities. I have been mistaken for Micheal jordan, tiger woods, Shaquille o'neal, Tyler perry, and saddest of all: queen latifa.
The act of sprinkling English into your japanese sentences is considered cute and cool and is popular with teenagers. Bonus points if you happen to use it correctly.
Japanese stores sell shirts with english on them and people buy them not knowing that most of those word combinations are nonsense.
Donāt let someone shame you for singing an anime opening, using japanese in your sentences, wearing clothing with japanese on it, ect. If anything, this is just one more thing that you have in common with them.
The American/Japanese cultural exchange is so pure and wonderful and I love it so much
OK BUT RESONATE WITH THE SHIRT THING THOUGH
My Chinese relatives buy me shirts from China with English letters on them hoping I think itās cool
I have a shirt that says āHi Quality Ualityā
Itās amazing
It happens alot.
And then whatās really great is Americans getting tattoos of Chinese characters thinking they mean one thing when they really donāt
Also a topic where the reverse happens.
lemme tell you..i have been in a grocery store in Japan and heard the unedited Get Low playin over the intercom..it was literally a Katt Williams moment
Oh, unsensored songs are pretty common.
I should not be hearing an unsensored āMagic Stickā playing at a family restaurant.
And the best thing is when literally no one shows that they understand what is being said.
I was in a Chinese cafe one time and they had obviously put on their āfuck youā playlist. I mean, uncensored versions of Fuck You by Lilly Allen, Fuck You by Cee-lo Green, etc. No one else had any idea.
Oh, also, I got my favorite shirt ever in a little tchotchky store in Sichuan:
that last one got me holy shit.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā i wish i had
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā never met you
Ā Ā Ā TOUCHĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā MYĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā BUTT
then there would be mo need to imprese you
Ā o need to want you.No naed for. loring you
Ā Ā No need tar crying over you.Noneed for
Ā heartbreaks.No nead for paln oru tears.No
Ā Ā neard for forgoure promises .nead for
For every american teenager that is screaming the lyrics to their favorite anime opening, thereās likely at least 1 or 2 Japanese teens singing English profanities at a karaoke bar.
I really want that āIām so fucking futureā shirt.
Bro went to Japan and went to a karaoke bar with some high schoolers. They wanted to show me how good their Japanese rap was. Turned on kanye. Fucking sang the word nigga and everything. It was hella based
Wtf im going to feed my dog a chicken nugget
That's not a dog, that's a leviathan

Every time I see a post about updog Iām torn between not wanting to fall for it and wanting to help the poster complete their joke.
okay but whatās updog ?
Updog is a long sausage in a bun often served with ketchup, mustard, onion e, and/or relish.
No, thatās a hotdog. An updog is when a new version or patch of an application is released
Youāre thinking of update. Updog is when you end a sentence with a rising intonation.
No, thatās uptalk.Ā Youāre thinking of the fourth-largest city in Sweden.
surely thatās Uppsala, whereas Updog is the giant spider in Harry Potter.
Thatās Aragog. Updog is a symbol conventionally used for an arbitrarily small number in analysis proofs
Youāre thinking of epsilon. Updog is an upward-moving air current.
no thatās an updraft
updog isnāt a noun at all, itās a verb; it basically means to chew someone out, or harshly lecture them
No, thatās upbraid. An updog is a small dog that likes cuddling on peopleās laps.
No thatās a puppydog. An updog is when the Mets win.
No thatās an upset. An updog is the modern version of a henway.
Whatās a henway?
Oh, about 5 pounds.
GOTTEM
this post pushed me down the stairs and stole my firstborn child
I love this so much! š
sometimes i remember that the iconic spider-man poster was born out of tom holland napping on set
Hey, I have that poster! š

reblog this n tag it w how tall u r im curious
A little above average
based on a true story
I donāt think Fortnite is to blame for kids nowadays not readingā¦
Thatās the joke. Itās the authoritarian overbearing parent.
He was being sarcastic lol
Reminded me of these
That violin one hit close to home.
I remember doing homework once, asked my grandmother if she was proud of me. āDo some thing for me to be proud of.ā That hurt.
That comic up there ā I witnessed almost that exact scenario. Teacher wanted the kids to all pick books. One kid spots something on the shelf and gets visibly excited. Pulls it out and starts reading. Teacher sees it, snatches it off him and tells him that this is a book for 8 year olds (the kid was 15ish) and tells him to get a book more appropriate for his age. Kid slouches around the shelves for about 10 minutes, finally picks up a book at random and sits in his chair tucking the edges of each page into the binding to make that looped-page look. He didnāt read a word. He sat there and did this to his book for the remainder of the reading session:
He had been genuinely excited about the 8 year old book heād picked up. It was a new one in a series he used to read as a younger kid. Heād been actively sitting and reading, and then he was embarrassed in front of his classmates, told off for reading a kids book, and voila. He lost all enthusiasm for reading anything else that day.
Whatās worse? That kid had been hit by a car like a year and a half earlier. Severe brain trauma. Had to re-learn a lot of basic things, like how to speak and how to read.
An 8 year old book would have been perfect for him. Easy enough to read that it would have helped rebuild his confidence in his own reading ability. A book meant for 15/16 years olds? A lot harder to read than a book for 8 year olds. Especially if youāre recovering from a relatively recent brain injury.
And yeah, the teacher knew all about his brain injury, and the recovery. He just seemed go be of the opinion that the kid was 15, so he should be reading books for 15 year olds, irrespective of brain injury.
Reading this thread Iām reminded of Daniel Pennaeās The Rights of the Reader, which can be found in a lot of bookshops and school libraries:Ā
The child speaking at the bottom in Quentin Blakeās distinctive spiky handwriting is sayingĀ ā10 rights, 1 warning: Donāt make fun of people who donāt read - or they never willā
I remember at one point at my old school, Iād read so much one year for that AR test thing that they banned me from the Library just cause I was reading so much.
My sixth grade homeroom teacher once took us all to the library during class and had us check out one book before we leftābut she sat behind the desk and made us show her our books so she could approve them or send us back if we werenāt reading appropriate books for our level. I grabbed High Rhulain because it was the latest book in the Redwall series at the time and I hadnāt read it yet. She sent me back to the shelves, not because the book wasnāt my level, but because she thought I read too much fantasy. So I went back, grabbed a book at random (Jack Londonās White Fang) and, with her approval, checked it out.
Then I went back at lunch, turned in White Fang, and checked out High Rhulain. I donāt know what she thought she was accomplishing.
When I was in either late elementary or early middle school, my library had a bunch of the Magic Tree House books. I wanted to check out, like, eight of them, and the librarian told me I wasĀ ātoo oldā for those books. I responded that I liked them. She reluctantly let me, but told me to find something more appropriate for my age next time. Telling someone to find booksĀ āfor their ageā is one of the dumbest things a person can do and will kill the passion for reading faster than you can blink. Iām 30. Guess which type of book makes up the majority of my shelves and which ones I read over and over again? Young Adult Fiction and Fantasy. J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, D.J. MacHale, John Flanagan, Sara J. Maas, Marie Lu, Suzanne Collins, Cinda Williams Chima, Cassandra Clare, Bryan Davis, Ted Dekker... I could easily keep going. Yes, I have severalĀ āage appropriateā books I thoroughly enjoy (Iām currently rereading Vince Flynnās Mitch Rapp series), but I will always and forever love my YA novels. You can pry my post-apocalyptic dystopian page turners from my cold, dead hands.Ā Ā Donāt tell people to find books for their age. Donāt make fun of people for what they read, how much they read, if they read at all. Iām not judging you for what is or is not on your shelves. I will never snuff your passion for reading or for watching movies or for playing board games or for cosplay. Whatever your passion is, embrace it wholeheartedly, and if others make fun of you for it, throw your cape about you in the most dramatic fashion you can, brandish your wand, hold your book up high, and tell them where they can place their needless opinions.Ā
hello again, it seems Iām not done with those two yet :D (actually I kinda- sorta..have next part plannedĀ already ;)Ā
Yeah, this definitely happened š
Person A:Ā āIs that an axe? Why the fuck did you bring an axe to work?ā
Person B:Ā āThey had a special on office supplies.ā
Person A:Ā āā¦.What?ā
I'm off to join the Winchesters. Buh-bye!
