I can write whatever I want

This time Akutagawa took his place, Oda in a way replaced Dazai with Akutagawa.

I don't really delve into Dazai's character enough to determine if feeling envy like that would be out of character for him so I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts!

This is a really interesting question, and I admit I have wondered about it myself before! It's tough to say, because to me, Dazai is a jealous bitch. But to be jealous, you have to want stuff, and Dazai isn't very good at that.

Plus, I think it's important to keep in mind, no matter what lengths Dazai has gone to, all he has are somebody else's memories. He is constructing a whole reality for a man who doesn't even know him, let alone care for him. But Dazai is paining a pretty picture! And in that pretty picture, Oda gets to meet Akutagawa, Oda takes him in and Akutagawa fits seamlessly with his kids.

That's part of the picture, part of Oda's perfect life.

I'm doing great, surviving university... A fandom I'm in is going through chaos but stuff is not so bad

Kind of, I stopped reading, but I know what happened in the last episodes... I just think it's a disaster and we'll probably get introduced to more Trascendants now that Atsushi is in Europe and Verlaine is finally out of the basement

I have mixed feelings about Oda tbh because he reminds me of my dad... I don't hate him, despite the annoyance in "how can you stay so calm WITH ALL THE GHAOS AROUND YOU!?!?" kind of thing?

I would have to think deeply about it... Idk if exactly do a post, but I feel like Mori at some point saw him like a little experiment "let's see how he survives this" but also probably a tool in the organisation 🤔

Hello did someone ask for a shitpost about these two because buckle down I had a boatload of stuff I wanted to write about them (this was originally going into Oda’s analysis post but it got out of hand and way too long, sorry.)

This has spoilers up till the most recent part I’ve put up (chapter 4, part 12).

I think one of the most striking parts of their relationship is how Oda sees so much in Gide and vice versa. Of course, Oda is an empathetic saint, bless him, but Gide is important because he allows Oda to express himself in ways he never did with Dazai and Ango. Oda, who considers Dazai and Ango friends he has known for many years, never shares his reason for not killing with them. Then he meets Gide for ten minutes and spills his heart out on the matter and his dream about becoming a novelist. Who the heck does that? (Oda, that’s who.)
