in spite of all the ways society is flawed, the world today is better than it has ever been, and it is improving incredibly rapidly. this is something i firmly believe, and a conviction i would readily argue to anyone. there is no point in history where as high a proportion of people have lived with as much luxury, leisire, fulfillment, and pleasure as today; the most disadvantaged are still living better lives than their historical counterparts, and their lives could be (will be) readily changed for the better before long. this is not a wish, or a dream, maintained by idle unfounded hopes. it is a practical analysis of present day conditions and the way the world is shifting.
