while i get bottom dysphoria (and especially around the idea of penetrative sex) i'm mostly okay with having a dick otherwise because it doesn't ruin the image of myself that i hold. i most definitely want bottom surgery in the future but i'll take what i've got right now at least. when people approach me sexually though it kind of drives me insane how many ppl expect me to top because i have a dick and how often people offer to give me head. like no i'm not automatically okay with it because i'm not extremely socially dysphoric fuck offfffffff 😭 pmo when i already mention i'm a bottom anyways

When he released Born in the U.S.A. people completely misinterpreted (or possibly ignored) the lyrics in favor of the tone of the music.

Politicians used his music to promote their ‘Murica Yes! brand, and he had to literally explain that that was not what he was about. He’s over here asking when we’re going to have jobs and heathcare, not stanning the politicians who weren’t helping the people.

It was also kind of a big deal that he had an integrated band, because even as late as the 1980s music was still kind of segregated and MTV was straight up racist. They refused to play and promote black artists and then claimed that were no black artists in the first place. Michael Jackson’s record company had to threaten a boycott of their white artists to get MTV to play his Thriller video.

Plus, the first black/white interracial kiss on TV was in 1968 (OG Star Trek). Also it took us until the 70s to get sympathetic gay characters on screen, and the 90s to get gay characters to kiss onscreen. And all of those firsts were met with outrage.

So keep that in mind when you see Bruce Springsteen not just playing with an interracial band, but engaging in an interracial, gay kiss on stage repeatedly.

describing this as generalized transphobia flattens out the differences in how variously trans people are variously discriminated against. framing this as transmisogyny correctly focuses our attention on the ways in which discrimination which uniquely targets transfems is weaponized. there will no doubt be downstream effects felt by any number of transmisogyny exempt people, and they will rightly feel upset about the injustices they will experience. i do not want those things to happen, but they will and it will be bad and wrong when they do. but the first people targeted will be those least able to exempt ourselves from transmisogyny, those named explicitly in the majority opinion.

you'll pardon me for not sparing much consideration for future injustices when my sisters and siblings are already suffering, already being cast out and labeled as dangerous, things whose inclusion is a bourgeois luxury reserved only for when we have the time to weigh the complications and the nuance.
