it's definitely a choice to emphasize the US citizenship of the (relatively small number of) latino people exploited and killed to pioneer nuclear bomb, and to treat this as the primary morally contriving factor when it comes to oppenheimer's "legacy", when the primary victims of the bombs (y'know, residents of the densely populated cities that got nuked) were japanese.

don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of toll nuclear testing has taken on people around the world; the poisonings and deaths are unconscionable. but any discussion of the manhattan project's toll on humanity that leaves out hiroshima and nagasaki is kind of dodging the point.
