They don’t separate for a while, mind you, they both have no where to go and quite honestly trust is in short supply for both of them these days.

But they do separate eventually.

But only after Ahsoka and Rex have de-chipped both Gregor (who Rex actually did not know until they ran across him on a back water outpost trying to find information on Cody and Wolffe) and Wolffe.

They do find Wolffe but ... he has really bad PTSD, like, really bad PTSD.

Absolutely anytime Ahsoka walks into the room he just loses it, sometimes he has a panic attack, some times he’s thrown right back into that fateful day that changed everything and doesn’t know where he is, but the point is ... seeing Ahsoka (a former Jedi who should’ve died) absolutely wrecks Wolffe.

Of course, there’s times that Ahsoka and Rex can calm him down, but it’s a long process.

After one particularly bad encounter Ahsoka tells Rex she can’t stay. This is absolutely not because she is scared of Wolffe or because she doesn’t want to help him get through his tramua. But she recognizes that she is not the one who can help him through this and her presence makes it harder on him.

Rex, of course, argues and begs her to stay. Where would she even go anyways, they have only had each other since the kriffing war ended.

“I’m going with you then. We’re a team”

“No, Rex. You cannot come with me. Your brothers need you. Wolffe needs you.

“You chose me over your brothers once already. I will not make you do it again.”

It is absolutely only because Ahsoka promises to comm Rex frequently that he relents and agrees to her leaving.

“I’ll keep in touch. We can comm each other every day if we have to.”

“Stay safe Ahsoka.”

There is definitely a hug and there is definitely tears. But they have to do this for Wolffe.

They definitely do not part thinking that it will be years until they see each other again. But, life happens and Ahsoka has to go underground more and more and one day Rex stops responding to her messages in any shape or form and she doesn’t understand why.
