I’ve been doing some research for this AU lately, and one thing that really caught my attention was saloon girls. In western movies, they’re often shown as prostitutes, decorative women, or damsels in distress, but the reality was much more interesting. 🤓

Many worked as dancers, singers, performers, or card players. They entertained customers, encouraged them to spend money, and often drank colored water when men bought them drinks so they wouldn’t get drunk while working. Iconic, honestly.

A lot of these women also had more independence than people usually imagine. Some earned their own money, had bank accounts, protected each other, and were not defined only by sex work, even if some were involved in it.

That energy fits this AU perfectly, especially for Catra and Scorpia.

In our western AU, the saloon where they work is called The Black Garnet. 😈

It’s elegant, theatrical, decadent, and inspired by French cabarets, with a bit of Moulin Rouge feeling brought into a western setting.

The Black Garnet is full of music, dancing, drinks, gambling, performances, secrets, and very important people saying things they probably shouldn’t say.

That is part of Catra’s work. She charms her clients, lets them think they’re in control, and quietly gathers information: names, routes, deals, weaknesses. All those little details can become useful to the criminal network hidden behind the saloon.

So beneath all the lights, costumes, and spectacle, The Black Garnet is hiding something much darker.

The other drawing is my western AU version of Princess Prom with Adora and Catra. I don’t know if something like this will happen in the story, but I loved imagining it. ❤️‍🔥

I really like how this idea turned out, and it was a real pleasure to draw Adora with glasses (giving Clark Kent vibes?)

Catra and her companions from Halfmoon answer the call of a desperate Glimmer. Adora has fallen into a strange unconscious state, and no one has been able to wake her. The one responsible for the attack turns out to be an old enemy of Halfmoon’s crown, determined to use Catra’s relationship with Adora as leverage to seize the throne. Forced into an impossible choice, Catra must decide between saving her kingdom… or saving Adora.

In this story, we explore the traditions of Halfmoon, the tensions brewing within the kingdom, and the relationship between Catra and Adora in this alternate universe, where Catra reigns as queen of the mysterious Magicat Kingdom of Halfmoon.

Today I wanted to share the first 7 pages of this comic with you on a very special day: we finally get to see the first kiss between Catra and Adora in the Despara AU. ❤️

I know many of you had been asking for it for a while, but I wanted it to happen at the right moment for the story. Although, well… since this is Despara, you can probably imagine that the circumstances are not exactly the easiest.

This is a project I’m really excited about. Right now the comic already has almost 30 pages, but the story is going to be much longer. For now, I’m posting 3 pages a month on Patreon, although I’m considering posting more pages per month so the story can move a little faster.

There is still a lot of Catradora ahead, and also new AUs I’m working on with a lot of excitement and a lot of ideas.

This is Adora’s second visit, so Catra has decided to use the opportunity to shamelessly flirt with the dumb blonde while she’s stuck on the tattoo bed.

And well... Adora is not exactly hard to fluster.

In this AU, I imagine Catra as a bit more reserved than usual. She barely socializes offline and uses her online platform as a way to escape her complicated reality through music. Even so, she can’t help letting her attraction to Adora slip through. Meanwhile, Adora is more outgoing, but completely oblivious to the effect she has on Catra, and throws herself into training, maybe hoping it might catch the attention of the gorgeous guitarist on the other side of the screen.

I also want to thank everyone for the messages shared in our Patreon group chat, which helped us create this drawing and fill up the comment section. It was a really fun experiment, and I may do it again hehe

Where Adora is an Archaeologist that stumbles upon the tomb of Bastet and encounters Catra (Bastet’s inmortal guardian)

Here’s Adora, minding her own business while exploring some Egyptian ruins, when she suddenly comes face to face with this stunning apparition. For those who want more context, one of our patrons wrote a short fanfiction inspired by this suggestion! You can read it in AO3, The Eye of Bastet By CrazyAnimationChick.

Bright Moon is a dusty town in Etheria, trapped in a system where corruption has become the norm. Although Angella is the rightful mayor, her authority has been hollowed out by the governor, Horde Prime, who controls the area through fear, bribery, and violence that rarely needs to be overt. Sheriff Hordak enforces his rules on the streets, while Shadow Weaver operates from the shadows, linking political power with organized crime and maintaining the fragile balance that keeps the regime standing.

At the heart of Bright Moon stands the Fright Zone Saloon, a decadent cabaret that offers escape and spectacle for the townsfolk, but in reality serves as a front for money laundering, information trading, and illegal deals that strengthen Prime’s control.

Catra is the undisputed star of the Fright Zone: a singer, an unbeatable poker player, and an untouchable presence. Offstage, under the alias Wild Cat, she leads the Super PAL Trio alongside Scorpia and Entrapta, pulling off precise robberies of banks and stagecoaches. Every haul ends up in Shadow Weaver’s hands, feeding the governor’s machine.

Adora’s arrival begins to crack that fragile balance. She rides into town on her horse, Swift Wind, presenting herself as a calm, reliable blacksmith, respected by the locals. In truth, she is She-Ra, a renowned bounty hunter who has followed the trail of the infamous Wild Cat to Bright Moon. Alongside Bow, a brilliant inventor whose weapons threaten the regime’s violent control, Adora starts to put pressure on a system that once seemed untouchable.

From their very first exchanged glance at the Fright Zone, Catra and Adora feel an immediate and dangerous pull: a silent recognition between two women living behind masks. Meanwhile, Glimmer, Angela’s daughter, refuses to accept the silence imposed by the governor and begins to imagine a rebellion that could return justice to Bright Moon.

It’s honestly a little sad, I’m not going to lie. This series has meant so much to so many people. For some of us, it literally changed our lives.

But even if it’s not on the platform right now, that doesn’t erase what it was or what it still is. There’s always hope that it will be available somewhere again, or that one day we’ll finally get the DVDs it deserves.

In the meantime, the fandom is still alive. And it will stay alive.

We’re going to keep drawing, creating, writing fanfics, making cosplay, and celebrating this story that has impacted us so deeply. A series doesn’t disappear just because it’s removed from a catalog. It lives in the people who love it.
