to me the single most indicative thing about the idea of dean and benny banging in purgatory is that dean never, not once, made a “i havent been laid in a year” joke. i was waiting for it and it never came. you know he would’ve made that joke. why didn’t he make that joke? because he & benny were fucking

Ok but I’m kind of crazy about how Dean swearing obedience to Heaven and the angels has the unintended effect of sort of putting him in Castiel’s shoes. Like there’s this one scene where Zachariah is basically like “you swore to obey us so you better fuck off and obey” and Dean and Cas make eye contact over his shoulder and have one of their little silent conversation things (props to Misha and Jensen by the way) and then Castiel looks down and won’t meet his eyes. I just imagine that conversation to be half Dean looking at Cas for help and Castiel being like “there’s nothing I can do” and half Dean being like “is this what it’s always like for you?” with Cas breaking eye contact as confirmation.

ok this isn't at all my main interpretation for the handprint but. thinking abt the handprint in the context of the buffy/angel moment where buffy's cross brands angel and like, cas as the cross. holy instrument. dean in hell where his soul is slowly being corrupted via torturing. perhaps when they met he was already becoming vulnerable to the typical things that repel demons, like holy water. cas in his trueform state is pure undiluted heavenly power. that touching dean who, like angel, still has his soul but has been corrupted by demons, and the touch burns.

Thinking about how Mary performed femininity to please John and Dean performed masculinity to please John, about how Mary tried to ignore the itch to hunt and Dean had to smother the urge to nest, about how Mary was everything John wanted Dean to be and Dean was everything John believed Mary was, about how this man who was so important to both of them never really knew either of them at all.
