7- how much time did it take each of them to notice their feelings for the other and how long did it take for them to act on those feelings?

Ooh I haven't thought much about deanbenny headcanons before, so here's my immediate thoughts: I think it started out purely sexual and unplanned a couple months into working together to survive. I imagine they were both high on adrenaline after a really tough fight in which they both almost died and both saved each other's life, and Dean realised that he actually trusted Benny and could depend on him. All that adrenaline and relief and the way he was genuinely impressed with how competent Benny was (I see Dean as having a major competency kink) combined with Dean's daddy issues and the fact that Benny is older, and he's got this confidence and rugged charm that reminds him of John, it just combines into lust and urgency. It grew into brotherhood and genuine feelings for each other, although Dean's are far more complex than Benny's and Benny knows it, he knows this is temporary, not least because Dean mumbles and cries and screams the name 'Sam' in his sleep. When Dean opens up a little about Sam - never actually saying what they really are to each other - Benny just knows. He knows Sam isn't just his brother. He knows Dean's heart will always belong to him.

Benny probably fell for Dean the moment he saw him, this beautiful fearsome young man who was so terribly vulnerable in Purgatory and despite how strong and competent a hunter he was, he needed Benny's protection, and Benny is the protective kind who enjoys having someone to look after. There is something about Dean that appeals to Benny's need to protect, and though he'd never say it to Dean, that something is how broken Dean is, how obviously vulnerable he is underneath all that tough bravado, how lost he seems sometimes, like he is or was once used to following someone else's lead and taking orders and orienting himself to someone else's star. It took a while for Dean to accept that Benny wanted to be soft with him sometimes too, more than just some rushed but very hot sex. He didn't often allow for it because it felt like too much, made him feel too vulnerable, made him feel even more guilty about betraying Sam. Sex was just sex, the only pleasure in the neverending nightmare of surviving Purgatory, but the occasional soft touch or gentle kiss or sweet words? Those fucked Dean up. In other circumstances, in another life, he realises he could have been happy with Benny.
