Zachariah takes Dean back in time to show that there's no other way for Lucifer to be defeated besides Michael? Dean realizes that he needs to reconnect with Sam because that's the only chance they have.

Zachariah kidnaps Sam and Adam and makes him feel like he has absolutely no other choice? One betrayed look from his brother and Dean immediately changes his mind.

My mom is alive, but here I am drinking beer and staring at pictures of her. Because I used to worship these pictures, used to define my life by these pictures, used to dream of these pictures becoming a reality. But it could only ever be a dream. It had to be a dream. Because now you're here and I am so angry. You're not a ghost, a flashback, my reason for fighting, a picture, a make-believe figure I can turn around in my mind and make whatever I need in that moment. You're real. And you are not acting the way I thought you would (or maybe you're acting exactly the way I thought you would).

And it's just...Dean's facial expressions. His mom is back, but you can tell that he is not feeling the way he expected to. It reminds me of a reverse of Season 10 when Claire thinks she's going to be resentful when she sees her mom again but instead she just wants her to be okay. Dean is the opposite; he thought he would love to see his mom again, but the minute she's back, he's feeling way more feelings than he thought he would. His mother's not a nightgowned flashback anymore; she's a living, breathing person and she is flawed.

And then the episode ends with Sam still trapped and alone and afraid, still thinking that Dean is dead and meanwhile, Dean is stuck worrying about his mother and trying to make her feel better. He's right back to the four year old who was hugging his mom, telling her that everything was going to be okay or the child who would dry his dad's tears after a hunt.

Mary hasn't reassured Dean that they're going to find his little brother. But Dean has to reassure his mother that it's okay that they're hunters.

And the fact that Mary can't remember being a ghost when the one thing that she said to Sam in that moment was "Sorry" is so telling.

I am definitely not the first person to say this, but I am completely fine being the one millionth person to say it because it still blows my mind how obvious the difference between Jimmy Novak and Castiel is. Like how does Misha Collins make his eyes look ethereal and angelic? He made himself look like a painting, like something you should show some respect, like a fricking angel.

WHY WAS THIS SCENE DELETED?

Not to mention how interesting it is to see a debate between Rowena and Castiel about their different philosophies as well as some great Castiel jokes like saying that people tell him he's getting funnier and telling Rowena that he is not a female dog.

The only reason I found out about it was because I was looking up what people's favorite quotes from Supernatural were and I kept seeing this scene being quoted and I was like "Where is this wonderful quote from?" only to find out it was a deleted scene. Several people's favorite Supernatural quote ever isn't in the show!

Imagine all the times Dean has seen something and been like "I wish Castiel could see this" or was in trouble and hoped for his angel by his side or woke up from a nightmare praying to not be alone or thought of what he would say to Castiel if he was in front of him only for Castiel to hear every word.

*looks at each other with similar ideas*

Her: So that means...

Me: That Rowena probably could have de-aged Dean and then aged him up to his actual age and then he wouldn't have the mark!

Her: Or Rowena could just de age him to like a year before he got the mark
