When They See Us
This series was hard to take in. It usually takes me about a week to finish a Netflix original but this one spread out through the entire month, as it was that mentally draining for me. Similar to Adan Syedās case, with no hard evidence other than being at the wrong place at the wrong time, this series shows the story of the Central Park 5. Please watch this show, everyone needs to know that false confessions happen and that they need to stop. Available to stream on Netflix.
I am the Night
This show follows a young girl named Fauna who finds out she is related to George Hodel. Who is George Hodel? The doctor who was a prime suspect of the death of Elizabeth Short (aka The Black Dahlia). Itās a suspenseful show as it shows Fauna discovering all her familyās secrets. Available to stream on Hulu.
Ghost Adventures: Artifacts
Ok, youāre either a fan of Ghost Adventures or not. So, if you are, youāll love this series. People bring in āpossessedā items and tell their haunting experiences with them. From the dybbuk box (google it, itās freaky) to Charles Mansonās TV, this show is full of chilling artifacts and history. Available to stream on Hulu.
Good Trouble: Season 2
If you still havenāt started this series⦠what is wrong with you?! Thereās only been two episodes so far, but they touch on politics, womenās rights and following what your heart wants. I seriously cannot stress this show enough; it is THAT good! I feel empowered each episode i watch.Ā New episodes added every Wednesday on Hulu.
Marlon
I donāt know about yāall but I LOVE MARLON WAYANS. This show is about āMarlonā who is recently divorced from his wife and his journey with co-parenting. Itās straight comedy- from the kids to their friends, itās just a feel-good show and super relatable. Season 2 recently added on Netflix.
Confession Tapes: Season 2
Here i am to talk to you about false confessions again! On this show, it touches on all different true stories about false confessions in which a few are still incarcerated for. Episodes 1 and 2 of Season 1 is still a case that I think about constantly. Watch for yourself and let me know what you think? Season 2 available on Netflix.
MOVIES
Always Be My Maybe
Love, love, LOVE! Cutest movie of the year! It follows Sasha and Marcus who grew up together as neighbors and drifted apart when life happened, and Sasha followed her career. They happen to rekindle their friendship and itās just a great story from there. Keanu Reeves also makes an appearance, in case you needed more of a reason to watch this film. Available to stream on Netflix.
Adam Devine: Best Time of our Lives
One of the best stand-up comedies Iāve watched in a while! Adam Devine is seriously one of a kind and not only are his jokes hilarious but just watching him on the stage is entertaining. If you watch Workaholics, you know what Iām talking about. Youāve never watched Workaholics? (itās available on Hulu). This stand-up is available to stream on Netflix.
Murder Mystery
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are one of my favorite duos. They have such a good chemistry and are HILARIOUS. This movie is good, people. Follows a couple who go on a European vacation and are stuck right in the middle of a framed murder. Good thing Adam plays a NY cop! Available to stream on Netflix.
Throwback movie of the month:
October Sky
Itās based on a true story of Homer Hickman who grew up in a small coal mining town. His father is one of the top miners and every young boy in the town eventually grows to become a miner. Homer is fascinated by rocketry although his father doesnāt approve. Mesmerizing film that explains the story of one manās dream which lead him to one day becoming a NASA engineer. Iām working on a separate post that focuses on all Jake Gyllenhaal movies so be on the lookout for that! Available to stream on HBO Now.
May Binges
Iām a little delayed on last monthās blog... partially because life has sucker punched me, but mainly because i was out of town for most weekends of the month and worked like crazy. Hope anyone reading this enjoys my May recap:)
1. Chambers
This was actually one of the first shows i finished in an entire day. I started at about 8am on a Sunday and finished around... I wanna say 5pm? It was THAT good. Itās about a girl named Sasha who has a total freak accident in which she needs to have a heart transplant. She starts gettingĀ āvisionsā (think the movie The Eye with Jessica Alba) in which she is pushed to figure out how exactly her donor died. This show has everything from cults, family, auras, and culture. To make things even more interesting, it is based in Arizona. Itās thrilling and refreshing. Available to stream on Netflix.Ā
2. Claws
This was one show that kept popping up either on my IG or whenever i was scrolling through Hulu. I am so happy i started watching it! Itās about a nail salon owner, Desna, who is involved in money laundering through her shop. She does it all to take care of her brother, Dean, who is on the autism spectrum and since they were both orphans, itās the only way she is able to maintain steady income. Thatās really what captivated me, the fact that this is all around her taking care of her brother. I always judged this show to be another one of those tacky drug dealing shows but NOPE, it proved me wrong. It honestly has a tasteful plot and is entertaining the entire time. Seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Hulu.
3. Easy
Ugh! If youāre looking for a show that is totally relatable... THIS IS IT! The story line is interesting as it follows a different couple each episode and shows them going through everyday obstacles (that you probably thought only you go through). Itās such a feel good show and a little (emphasis on that little.. lol) NSFW if you know what i mean. Seasons 1-3 available to stream on Netflix.Ā
4. Game of Thrones (Season 8)
Okay..... not my favorite season, such a shame that itās ended. But hereās my brief review: Episode 3 was the shit, the rest were.... eh. Cersei and Danny deserved better. I just really wished is was more dramatic. Hopefully the spin offs will give us what we wanted.
Iām still wrapping up on a few other shows/movies. I do this thing where i donāt like to blog about it unless the show really captivated me. So more to come for my June post! Thanks for reading:)

Shows:
1. The Case Against Adnan SyedĀ
This is one of those documentaries that really rocks your world. It shows the life of Adnan Seyd who was a senior in high school. He was very religious, close with his family, played almost all sports, had good grades and was even prom king. He was convicted in 2000 to life in prison plus 30 years for Hae Min Leeās death, which occurred in 1999. With no hard evidence, the justice system really failed him. This documentary is available on HBO Now.
2. ImpostersĀ
This series SCREAMS entertainment! One random Sunday I decided to start watching this show and honestly, Iām so happy I did. Con-artists, humor and a really good looking cast. Itāll keep you on your toes the entire time! Available to stream on Netflix. Show by Bravo.Ā
3. Santa Clarita DietĀ
Ok... I know I talked about SCD in a previous post, but I hadnāt finished it until a couple days ago and... I am in LOVE! Obviously, we are all obsessed with Drew Barrymore, but the entire cast is just so compatible and sweet. CanĀ āzom-bodyā please give us a season 3?! Available to stream on Netflix.Ā
Movies:
1. Someone Great
I assumed I was going to love this film simply because of Gina Rodriguez, but as soon as this the beginning credits rolled andĀ āInt'l Players Anthemā started playing I WAS LIKE WHOA. Feel good movie times 10! Three best friends must stick by each otherās sides while each of them face difficulties with their relationships. Itās hilarious, touching and SO relatable. Available to stream on Netflix.
2. HomecomingĀ
SHE DID THAT. She mentions that she wanted to give everyone the full experience not just something to watch. SHE DID THAT! Available to stream on Netflix.Ā
3. The Perfect DateĀ
Noah Centineo makes us fall in love with each and every character he plays. This movie is witty, sweet and funny. Must watch! Available on Netflix.Ā
On a side note...
I am currently watching Jane the Virgin, Game of Thrones, The Act, The Voice and will be watching Infinity War: End Game this weekend. Iāll more than likely include them in my May binges or touch base on them a little bit until I finish the entire series. I hope you enjoy these shows / movies as theyāve made my hectic month of April a little more enjoyable :)Ā

March Binges
1. On My Block (Season 2)
While Season 1 left us on the biggest cliffhanger ever, Season 2 delivered! It answered many questions that were left unanswered in the first season but kept itās witty humor. This show opens our eyes to real struggles in neighborhoods and what violence they have to deal with. Season 2 also went into depth with each character and makes us fall in love with each of them all over again. Jasmine and Jamal are definitely my favorites in this season. If you still havenāt watched this series.. Cāmon now...Ā
2. Good Trouble
Talk about a show I never knew I needed! In all honesty, I thought I would have a hard time keeping up with this show as Iāve never (ever) watched The Fosters but trust me - you can still watch it without any background. This show follows two sisters, Marianna and Callie, who move out to LA for their dream jobs. One works for a judge and the other as a software engineer. The move into a building that is shared with about 8 others who are also following their dreams in LA. This show gives you everything you need, from relationships, career advice and even touches on subjects as racism and equality. Available to stream on Hulu.
3. The Act
Talk about a disturbing true story. This show is about a mother (Dee Dee) and her daughter (Gypsy Rose). If youāre not familiar with this story, Dee Dee made up multiple health issues that her daughter Gypsy did not actually have. She fed lies into her head to keep her from ever leaving her side but then Gypsy finally discovers the truth. This series is intriguing but yet so disturbing, in all honesty itās pretty hard to swallow at times. The only downfall on Huluās end is that the entire series isnāt available to stream as you have to wait for a new episode every Wednesday (lame).Ā
4. Jane The Virgin
Only one episode in and WOW. How is this serious the last season?! Jane is a lot more mature with deciding whatās best for her and her family and having to adapt to change after change. Excited to see what else this season has in store for us. #TeamRafael4LifeĀ
5. Santa Clarita DietĀ
This show is non-stop humor, if you can get past watching Drew Barrymore eat human flesh. I know, sounds gross but this show is hilarious. Season 3 touches on coming up with a new plan, cult following and Mr. Ball Legs. Do yourself the favor, yeah?
6. Workin' Moms
This is a series I wasnāt too sure about starting but Iām really glad I gave it a try. It follows a hand full of different women and how theyāre adapting to becoming new mothers and going back to work. They struggle with often having to choose their jobs over being at home with their children. It shows the reality of it all but adds some humor to it. Would definitely recommend!Ā
7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
I know.. I know. How have I never watched this? Think The Office meets Parks and Rec and a little bit of Workaholics. Guaranteed to make you laugh!Ā
MarchĀ āMovieā Madness:
1. Captain MarvelĀ
OK - this is definitely at the top of the list for origin movies. This 2 and a half long movie was never boring and I not once looked at the time! To be completely honest, I was hesitate to watch this as I wasnāt sure how this would tie her into Infinity War but OMG, this movie explains it all! Be sure to stay for the end credits ;)
2. Us
Iām sure youāve seen at least the preview of this movie. If not, think evil doppelgƤnger who has all the characteristics you have, but uses them in ways you never would. Itās hard to explain, in all honesty, Iām still trying to wrap my head around this movie. You can interpret it in about 20 different ways. I guess thatās Jordan Peeleās whole point of it - not everyone is supposed to get the same emotional feeling from it.Ā
3. Enemy
SPEAKING of EVIL doppelgƤnger... let me introduce the movie Enemy to you. Jake Gyllenhaal (yum) plays a history professor who has fallen into routine of life. One day he is simply watching a rental movie and he finds a man who looks exactly like him. He researches and finds the man, who is an actor and the complete opposite of who he is. They even sound the same! They both become obsessed and then the ending. WHAT AN ENDING. Definitely recommend! Available to stream on Netflix.
4. Triple Frontier
This movie follows 5 fellow friends who were in the military and take on a job where they can capture a wanted man without help from law enforcement so they can keep the hidden money all to themselves. They work as a team but learn quickly that greed changes people quickly. I appreciate a great action packed film, you wonāt regret this one! Available to stream on Netflix.
7. Like Father
Imagine being walked out on, on your wedding day. AT THE ALTAR. Then somehow inviting your father who you havenāt seen since you were 5 to your honeymoon? Oh yeah, this movie went there! It honestly hits home, as it shows a father and daughterās rocky relationship and what theyāre willing to do to reconcile it. Itās sweet, funny and will make you laugh while crying. Iām so glad I stumbled upon this gem. Available to stream on Netflix.
February Binges
1. The Umbrella Academy
OMG. When i say this is one of my favorite shows of all time, i really mean it. 7 siblings must come together to stop the Apocalypse. This series is witty, action packed and it is everything i wish X-Men could be. The casting is spot on (with the exception of Vanya) and just proves what we already know, Netflix Original Seriesā cannot be topped. Did i mention it has the best soundtrack?!Ā
āAlexa, play I Think Weāre Alone NowāĀ
2. The Masked Singer (Hulu)
this is one of those guilty pleasure shows. Celebrities are masked - the panel and audience have to guess who is under their disguise. I know, sounds corny, but i found it uplifting and motivating.Ā
3. Dating Around
this series was a little difficult for me to wrap my head around. My first impression with the beginning of the series had me a tad bit confused. It was entertaining (mainly awkward) to watch, but it does give an insight to what dating is like now a days. Itās also pretty funny (because itās so awkward), so iāll give it that. Not Netflixās best work but hey.... canāt win them all!Ā
4. UnsolvedĀ
iām aiming to finish this series by the end of tomorrow evening (currently on episode 4) but this gives an insight of the infamous murders of both Tupac and Biggie Smalls. We all *think* we know the story but this show goes into depth of their deaths and the investigation on them. It has been 20+ years since both of their deaths and no one has been convicted of their murders? Really makes you think...Ā
Movie of the Month: I Love You, Man (2009)
Disclaimer: iām really not sure how iāve never seen this movie before as iām a big fan of Paul Rudd and Jason Segel but itās exactly what you think it would be. HILARIOUS! *slappinā the bass*
Iām excited for all that March has in store for us to watch! Shows AND movies!Ā
Netflix Binges for January
1. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime StoryĀ
the story is so captivating. Crazy to think itās real. Obsession turns deadly.Ā
2. The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime StoryĀ
another captivating story. Funny how karma worked out. Ryan Murphy really casts the absolute best.Ā
3. Sex EducationĀ
obsessed! Such a sweet and spunky show. Although I needed more from the ending, the overall story was empowering.Ā
4. Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy TapesĀ
this person was real. It shows an insight of how manipulating and condescending a person can be. Totally the character Joe Goldberg was based on.Ā
5. You (re-watched)
speaking of Joe Goldberg...Ā
Movie of the Month: Velvet Buzzsaw
do yourself the favor as Jake Gyllenhal never disappoints. I admire what the story is all about - greed is deadly.Ā
Best of 2018: Shows
1. On My Block
This show is seriously at the top of my list. It hits home! 4 friends in LA just trying to survive high school. Involves gangs, love and quirky quotes. Youāll laugh the entire time! 10/10Ā
2. Atypical (Season 2)
ok seriously, if you havenāt seen this show yet, whatās wrong with you? Sam is the best character, ever. Such a soft soul, his attention to detail is divine and his heart⦠biggest heart ever. This show proves that the most important thing in life is family. Do yourself the favor? 9/10 only because i needed more from the ending.Ā
3. Haunting of Hill HouseĀ
most hyped show of 2018? Yup! But so worth it. This show ties in family issues with the most important thing in life - forgiveness. Honestly, it did spook me a couple times but Iāve rewatched it 3 times, itās that good! 9/10Ā
4. Jane the Virgin (Season 4)Ā
AH!!! This season had my emotions everywhere! JTV brings me nothing but happiness, it reminds me of my family and gives me a glimpse into raising a child. If you havenāt started this show, put it at the top of your list for 2019! 9/10Ā
5. Santa Clarita DietĀ
funniest shows Iāve watched this year! Drew Barrymore is forever a favorite. And being half zombie? Makes her even better! Plus theyāre real estate agents? Need i say more?! 9/10Ā
6. American Horror Story - Apocalypse (Season 8)
so, many, mixed, emotions! Episode 5 was the best then it went downhill from there. They dragged the plot to the fight for way too long. There was too much detail in unimportant things. They could have made the ending more interesting. For that, i give it a 7/10Ā
7. 13 Reasons Why (Season 2)Ā
it wrecked me, in all honesty. It was more brutal than i expected it to be. But itās the truth. It shows the world that this is what is happening in this world. They did drag on a few things and i needed more from the ending. 7/10Ā
