I have thoughts 🙌😤
Rant ahead...✌️🥹⬇️
TW:Abuse of power, non-consensual psychological break-in
(SPOILERS‼️ DNI if you haven't played Heaven's secret 1,2 OR 3 🙏)
Eragon's abrupt intrusion into Vicky's mind so abruptly not only reminded me of all the other times she has been violated like that but also gave me that icky feeling in my stomach again...reading through it feels as if someone's pesky fingers are sifting through my own mind which is deeply uncomfortable cause wtf? Even my mind isn't a safe space for me? I know it's a fictional Universe and I can only imagine how awful and nerve- wracking this breach of consent would be...
Spoilers below (I didn't include all the descriptions of the scene cause space issues 😔) :
Like, these are her memories, of her human life, of her friends and family and Malbonte... tenderness, joy and warmth might not be important to you Eragon but it's what keeps souls going...
🥺☹️🥲
And as if having to live through the terrifying encounter with Shephamalum wasn't painful enough, Eragon finds the memories of Tarnael then faults her for not telling him...dum-dum behaviour if you ask me because he did not watch her memories carefully??? Tarnael, a first born angel bestowed the role of measure bearer upon Vicky AND told her to keep it a secret...how was she supposed to override that? 😭😭😭 Especially now that Tarnael has been flung into non-existence...
Remember how Plague used to rip through her mind like a feral animal? Remember when she clawed through her mind in a fit of rage and destroyed a bunch of her memories? Remember how she said she'd never get those back?! Whatever she had left after those horrible instances of abuse is now messed up as well...I don't think he was straight up destroying her memories like he did with Naum but he definitely wasn't trying to preserve anything either... I dare say he wouldn't have cared if Vicky had lost consciousness or something because of his ruthlessness either...
Maybe I'm delusional but there's an inkling at the back of my brain telling me he envies Vicky...specifically her warmth? Popularity or the family she's built around herself? Resilience in the face of insurmountable odds? Idk.... perhaps it's because he looks down on her still, you know, Vicky a mortal turned unclaimed turned Harmony Bearer turned vessel and shield who pretty much transmutes energy...all without seeking his help or his approval, so unlike her mother who had to put a lid on most of her humanity to climb the ranks of the immortal hierarchy...but maybe I'm wrong and he'll get a redemption arc? (I hope he gets his butt whooped for this transgression first 😤🙌😠)
I hope icky things like this stop happening to the MC's...the torture that Lane and Audrey have to go through under the hands of that ancient slime mount have me skipping paragraphs fr...I hope they stand up for themselves and fight back because damn it felt good when Vicky stood up to Eragon (though only with words cause they still have to work together and bring down the slimy and dramatic final boss, at least it was something!😭)...
