First, HSR.

S2E8: in the DW+Compassion scene, Nick goes limp when Lane states that he’s going to come with them, to answer for what he’s done. He “comes to his senses” after suddenly, very fearful of her. I think this was Lane influencing him like the Spawn, because the Cultists seem to have Baal’s blood in them (Baal said that it ‘intoxicates the others,’ when he placed some in Lane’s scar). Which would strengthen my theory that the “thorn” in Lane is Baal’s blood, changed at the moment of his death, and it’s why she can hear the Cultists sinful thoughts.

For HS3: S1E18. The potion vial Aster drinks…it’s interesting that it makes his eyes look how Cain’s had in HSR S1, when he lost control to his “corrupted, cursed” power. The completely red eyes. Plus: Aster’s laughing. I found it really interesting. I have this theory - I don’t think I’ve mentioned it here, yet? - about how Torendo may have been working with Baal originally, in pursuit of the dark power that his father was obsessed with. And the forgotten god of darkness. Torendo didn’t know of him, of course, but he could have known of Baal 🤔

If Baal passed his blood onto the Cultists to whisper to them and use them, why not do a similar thing with immortals? I also wouldn’t be surprised if it was Torendo’s idea, although it is naturally possible it was Baal’s. The thing is: we still don’t know what that dark-spots sickness, from Cain & Abel’s childhood, really was. Why could no one identify it? Why did it seemingly disappear the moment Cain absorbed Abel’s energy? And the spells used on the brothers were meant to direct Cain’s lifeforce to Abel.

Was it all really just Cain’s subconscious, acting against his will? Considering his lost-state—the laughter like DW Lane, how it “acted against” Cain, he couldn’t stop it, and Baal controlling Lane’s body with his blood—it seems unlikely.

The episode before we learn Torendo has a son - in the same scene he talks about Cain, and Faust; the scientist who performed the ritual - we’re reminded through Azrael that children can be used for deals with demons, with just a parent’s permission. And it was during Azrael’s era that the S1E18 potion was commonly used.

(Ftr, I’m not convinced Vicky drank the exact same thing. Her eyes didn’t change at all. It’d make sense if the merchant was selling a dupe, while Aster, working for Azrael, had a real one.)

We don’t actually know if Abel was sick, too - if it was real, or maybe he was faking it: because Eliza didn’t care to treat it in Cain, only Abel. But we know illusions are a thing. What if Cain was the only one sick? What if the dark spots were what corrupted the energy Cain absorbed from Abel & their mother? What if Torendo had set it all up? Faust is dead. The brothers won’t get closure from him. But someone else…the real culprit, maybe? That would make sense.

Anyway. For some time, I have been planning on making an updated post on Cain possibly being Torendo’s son, with my theories on how that may connect to his “curse” and sickness, plus a separate post on the thorn WRT Baal (I have described it in other theory posts, but I’ve wanted to make one dedicated to it, for clarity).

I still plan to do those. This is just a quick thing.

I’ll add a bulletpoint for the last, for simplicity:

• HSR S3E11, Lane’s flashback to her time in Baal’s prison: he cuts her hand and puts his blood in it, saying “my blood will intoxicate her as it does the others.”

• HSR S2E8, DW+Compassion path scene with Nick: Lane grabs his head, stating he’s coming with them. He goes limp for a bit, then gasps and comes back to his senses, and tries to get away from her.

• HSR S3E11, just before Baal dies: he talks about Lane inevitably being found by the dark god, and then looks at her scar. He says “I can feel it… They’re still alive,” then his blood in it starts to burn. Remember: the world was being torn apart, so it’d make sense the Cultists may have died. But of course, we know they didn’t.

• HS3, S1E3, Lane’s first POV: Lane suddenly starts hearing the Cultists’ sinful thoughts. It feels like a thorn is climbing up her vertebra, right before her mind is attacked. Donovan explains the connection was the claustrum. This pattern of climbing up to attack that, is the very same form used for the Infection - which was also Baal’s (via the Spawn’s) blood. Donovan says it was ‘like someone triggered a self-destruction protocol’ in Lane; killing her. Just before finding the Portal, Lane mentions Baal out loud, and the thorn starts attacking. Later, in S1E24, she feels the thorn start to climb, when she begins to feel afraid about the wedding. She then notes she’s been feeling worse since her dream about Baal, and right after, she sees a “vision” of being back in the prison. (Similar to the illusions he used on her.)

• HS3, S1E13, there’s a 💎 scene, after and separate from learning about Atlas and the lost civilization of Atlantis (via Cain). This choice is about immortal powers, but leads to detailing how Baal created matter that could exist and move even without him. And as we know from the Spawn still existing: even if Baal had died. As that part on Baal ends it: the prompt for this scene says this information may prove useful.

It obviously to show the purest form of themselves. Cain being birthright angel, proud and seemingly unmatched. Lane being a human, which in HSU something that deems to be weak and plain. Unlike the immortals with wings and perfect features. Cain's nudity is understandable even looking at hs3. He never like hiding his angelic features (as he mention abt his wings in hsr s2), nudity never bothered him (or even partially nude) As for Lane we see her bare during the times of vulenrability. The torture in hsr, completely left to her own devices that also kept her from being unable to protect herself towards Baal. It's really a part of the psychological torture she endured. Since she's got nothing to hide even her mind.

Now as for the dia scenes where they are both naked, aside from the obvious (that some of it are sex scenes) I really like the composition of them all. In s2 where Cain is looming over to her bare body that really is Cain finally claiming her as his. The way his wings cave over Lane, to shield her to anyone or her from leaving his grasp. His wings being making it unfair for those chances for anyone to get her from him. (Since yk that scene is finally them solidifying their relationship by owning one another. Freak4freak fr). Then the one in the church the roles seemingly reversed, Lane's now preventing him from doing anything and she's hungry of him. His wings bound and his arms are bound.

There's another one with Baal's dungeon, in her memory. Cain looms again to her but as her warden of some sort. Drilling into her vulnerable and bleeding state the memories of her past, while Cain remains clean and proud. Evoking power.
