okay so every time I see this post crop back up in queues and notifications I end up thinking about it. Because I made the post and even I'm still doing the thing where I read the post about maintaining range of motion in my delicate meatsuit and I nod and hmm and think yeah that's a good idea and then dont move from where I'm curled up shrimp style staring at the nightmare rectangle.
So like. Thinking real hard about moving doesn't count as moving. Major bummer. Anyways. Joints.
Please be critical of what videos you see now. Even cute animal ones. Does the animal move kind of weirdly? Is the fur a little too smooth looking? Do all of the non dog animals make actions eerily similar to how a dog would do a trick, because that's what AI has the most visual training on replicating? Its movements a bit too quick and perfectly timed?
Watch out. They're infecting collections of animal videos everywhere.
An example of what kind of a thing you need to look out for. This is not how a possum plays dead. This is how a DOG plays dead to make you laugh and get a treat. Because when you tell an AI to have it play dead its got thousands of dog trick videos to reference and very few possum ones in contrast.
So its going to look like a dog.
When a possum plays dead it actually looks.. yknow. Dead. It goes utterly limp and most of the time in my experience their mouth is open somewhat. They go utterly still, don't move at all. Even if you pick em up and nudge em around a bit theyâll usually be stiff as a board. There's videos you can find of people interacting with real possums when theyâre playing dead and its incredibly different from the dog drop and roll we see here. It also almost immediately stops playing dead to wander away. Something a real possum most certainly wouldn't do.
AI slop thrives off using these lower quality cam video styles to trick you. I've seen countless 'Security camera' footage of AI bullshit now and its got its tells but if you're not looking you can easily be deceived.
Watch out.
Do your part.
Call it out. Make them ashamed.
Pollution on the internet like this shouldnt be tolerated.
Especially when its actively trying to lie to you.
None of these have ever been labelled as AI because they're actively trying to sneak into your life.

HR 2616 threatens to cut federal funding from public schools if they âteach or advance concepts related to gender ideology,â as defined by an Executive Order signed by Trump in Jan 2025. It would also cut funding from schools unless they require âparental consent before changing a minor's gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name on any school form.â HR 2616 HAS ALREADY PASSED IN THE HOUSE! Please call your Senators to say NO ON HR 2616!Â

HR 8705 threatens to cut federal funding from public schools which teach âdiscriminatory equity ideology or gender ideology,â as defined by two Executive Orders aimed at suppressing âcritical race theoryâ and trans representation. This bill is named after the late far-right activist Charlie Kirk, âThe Charlie Act.â HR 8705 has passed out of committee, but has not yet been introduced in the House. Please call your House Reps to say NO ON HR 8705!

HR 7661 threatens to cut federal funding from public schools which offer material deemed âsexually oriented," treating any LGBTQIA+ identity as sexual content. It specifically forbids âgender dysphoria or transgenderism,â and âlascivious dancingâ (drag). This bill, titled âStop the Sexualization of Children Act,â has 22 co-sponsors and has passed out of committee but has not yet been introduced to the House. Please call your House Reps to say NO ON HR 7661!Â

If you don't know who your Senators or Representatives are, you can use Ballotpedia's Who Represents Me tool! (Note: there's a field for you to input your email address on their page, but it's not necessary to get your results. They just need a mailing address to confirm who your reps are.)
Once you've got names, you can look up and save your Reps' phone numbers in your phone. I find this makes it easier when I'm wavering about feeling brave enough to place a call. Just pressing a button instead of going and looking up the phone number all over again makes it just a liiiiittle easier, and sometimes that makes the difference between calling and not calling!
the thing about chekhov's gun is that the gun does not literally "need to go off by the third act." the story works just as well if someone merely grabs the gun and starts threatening people with it, or if the Jewish protagonist recognizes the particular model as a Politically Concerning piece of world war 2 surplus, or if the gun's owner waxes nostalgic about the last time he fired it, etc. etc. etc.
unfortunately I get the impression that a lot of people do not understand that and therefore build theories around the idea that if the gun is not Specifically taken down from the wall and fired, it serves no purpose to the story, so why the hell was it there in the first place

What is up with lefty types pushing to learn practical skills (sewing/gardening/etc whatever) as like "you'll need to know this after The Revolution:tm:" and not, like, "this is a useful skill to help yourself & others in your communities Right Now".
