I feel like the problem ppl have when constructing redemption arcs is people make ‘the character realizes what they’ve done is wrong’ the end step instead of like…one of the earliest ones. a satisfying redemption arc doesn’t resolve when the character first feels sorry, it resolves when a character has really journeyed towards atonement and made enough change in themselves to achieve some kind of symbolic victory over who they used to be
might be my prudish catholic upbringing jumping out but imho makeup companies shouldn’t name their products after explicit sexual terms
just my opinion but if the makeup industry is going to market towards young girls who haven’t even hit puberty yet and insist that they have hundreds of dollars worth of high end makeup then they cannot name their products things like ‘climax’ and ‘super orgasm’ or even make puns like ‘glow job’ or claim in bold letters that the mascara is ‘sex proof’ when these young girls have no idea what any of these terms mean and frankly they shouldn’t understand the meaning behind an eyeshadow called ‘daddy’s girl’ or a blush called deep throat it’s all part of the hyper-sexualization of young girls and it’s just getting worse and worse in this new age of instagram/youtube mua’s where girls as young as 8 years old are being pressured into having a beat face that makes them look my age
but that’s just my opinion
Actually no you’re right and you should say it

i hate how they market alexa as a ‘member of the family’ like that’s SO fucking blatantly insidious and terrifying also if i wanted an untrustworthy/cold/emotionless machine in my life i’d just talk to my fuckin father
“Guys stop bullying my wiretap”

1993 called
They want anything back?
Imagine being Friend Bear and the embodiment of friendship in Care-a-Lot and some fuck named “Best” Friend Bear suddenly comes into town
So... anyone else super bothered that the term "hyperfixation" seems to have slithered its way into the vocabulary of your average internet user and now basically everyone is using it as a synonym for "obsession"?
Like I'm not going to blame individual people for not knowing any better (and besides some people might be neurodivergent and not know it... or they know but just haven't told anyone publically, which is their right) but the general phenomenon just upsets me.
Hyperfixation is an ADHD and autism specific term because our obsessions just ARE much more intense in general. Learning about what the term meant helped me understand why I could recite the entire Lion King film in two languages and why I literally dropped out of school after I started watching The X-Files because my obsession with the show consumed me to the point I couldn't do anything else. It helped me understand why, despite the fact that pretty much everyone had obsessions, other people's obsessions weren't downright debilitating like mine often were.
The way we function in this world differs a lot from neurotypicals (and other neurodivergent people with different disorders) and we need to have our own words to describe our symptoms and behaviors. It just saddens me to see that our experiences are time and time again ripped away from us and tweaked a little so they can be used as some "relatable", "quirky" memes that apply to literally everyone on this planet.
Just to clarify that the person who coined Hyperfixation says the term extends to people on the following:
People on the Autism Spectrum (Autism, Aspergers, PDD-NOS, CDD)
People with Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia etc.)
People on the Schizophrenia Spectrum
People with any other Developmental Disabilities
They say so in this post where they also state that they themselves do not have ADHD or autism. I get where you’re coming from but this is kind of important info. We are not the only people who can use this term.
