I love that its not a holiday. It's not everyday. We havent won the WC in over 20 years.
But it's an event and we are decorating the streets - not just stores doing it, but random people paying for decorations out of their own pocket for the street they live in. And even people who don't typically watch football are asking around about people' plans for the game on saturday, bars arent taking reservations because demand is gonna be so high on that day you just better get there early. We don't have to do any of this, but we want to. Don't quite care about the cup? Still many are not willing to miss out on the communal experience of watching a game and celebrating along with others, be it your friends, your family, all the people in the bar you don't know, uour neighbours. Things that make me love humanity.
