like as much as i find the goofiness very entertaining and i see the glam-rock documentary vision i do find myself longing for a more serious tone. i don't know i think even the queen of the damned film with its 00s nu-metal/industrial goth/bauhaus looking ass stuart townsend kind of respected anne's goth aesthetic sensibilities more. at least it wasn't going oohhh isn't a rockstar vampire soo crazay and sillay. it just lacks so much.... darkness! it feels like i am constantly hearing statements from the showrunners about how they just had to make tvl crazzaaazzzaay for it to work "how anne wrote it" and i get that sometimes for something/someone to appear as cool as a rockstar they have to be a bit pathetic you know a bit cringe i do get it. but it comes across as very self-conscious and afraid of being caught taking itself too seriously. like that scene in the curse where nathan fielder tries too hard at the comedy class and it comes out a bit grotesque

I wish people were as scared of getting into a car accident as they are of being true crime'd. Maybe then they wouldn't be on their phones while driving.

True crime girlies will be like "wtf I would never go for a walk at night, what if the hash slinging slasher gets me" and then use their knees to merge with no turn signal in front of a semi while applying makeup with both hands
