Happy pride month space frog fans, I drew scene Rhin as celebration because I wanted to 🫶

I know Rachel Amber has been cast, and honestly, I think the best way for her to appear in the show is only one episode. Call it Before The Storm, have it start out the same way as the game (chloe and rachel meeting at the mill) and then have the rest of the episode be in present time with flashbacks to chloes time with rachel, which can be some key moments from the BTS game. It keeps her more of a mystery while also helping emotionally connect to her and to her relationship with chloe!

I think inflicting unnecessary cruelty for ones own selfish desires and preferences is a widespread issue these days, not only when it comes to bugs. People have been becoming increasingly apathetic and self absorbed. Everything HAS to be about you. Everything HAS to be the way you like it.

I think the normalisation of cruelty to insects is incredibly damaging to a humans capacity for empathy, especially as even children torture and kill bugs for no reason, and it is generally ignored and that cruel behaviour is never corrected, which often leads to them becoming more and more apathetic and cruel.

As a child, I was already kind to bugs. I loved them from the moment I was born. I accidentally hurt a moth once and was inconsolable. The children at school noticed my kindness, and decided it was wrong. Because everyone else hates bugs. Because killing them is normal. Caring is not.

They would bring me to bugs they'd found, then kill them in front of me. They'd chase me if I was holding one, bat it out of my hands, and stomp on it. If I ever even raised my voice at them over it, I'd get in trouble. Because what they were doing was normal. What I was doing was not.

But media tends to demonize bugs the most, but not just bugs, it's been done with other animals that are actually really good for the environment, and it's done in such a way that I believe ruins their conservation.

It's been done with bats, sharks, opossums, snakes, vultures, hyenas, crocodiles, and probably many more groups of animals!

That's all to say, I like your post! Like a lot, and that you provide examples in a follow up post!

We get a lot of moths in my area this time of year, so I'm the designated put them (gently) in a cup to release back outside person

This is a very good point!! It always makes me so sad to think about what happened to great whites after Jaws.

Even invasive species have no malicious intent and are usually only in the wrong place BECAUSE of humans, and should be dealt with humanely. There is not a single animal that deserves to be demonized.

Humans are the most harmful, corrupt, aggressive species on the planet, but it is generally accepted that humanity is not inherently evil. Yet we have the audacity to portray innocent animals as such. Gross.

Be the change the world needs to see! Be kind despite being human! Love bugs, love sharks, love rats, love our roommates on this planet <333

The phrasing of your bug post just comes off as insensitive to people with genuine phobias of bugs

I do care about bugs, and our environment, and the good they do, but if I see one, I go into genuine panic, and the edit doesn't really do much for me to feel comfortable since others like me don't "just run away from a bee", it's a deep mental and physical reaction to bugs

Then the post isnt about you. I said in the post "people who conflate fear with hate", and stated multiple times in the comments that i was talking about people who use their fear as an excuse to be cruel 😭 please dont bean soup me

Phobias and fears are different things. If i meant phobia id say phobia, but yes, obviously its not the same. As stated in the post, i mean people with a fear of bugs who use it as an excuse to hurt them. And the people i want to help grow are people with a fear of bugs who are able to still hear me out.
