Rabies is contagious through saliva once symptoms emerge. Once you have symptoms, it’s game over. Rabies is fatal. Surviving rabies is like winning the lottery while being struck by lightning—it will not happen to you; you don’t want it to. You need the first rabies vaccination dose BEFORE you have ANY symptoms.
Urge people in North Carolina to check if anyone they know went to this petting zoo. Show them footage of people dying of rabies if you must; it is very important that people take this seriously. It is a matter of life and death and it could be yours.

It should also be noted there have been at least three confirmed rabid beaver attacks on humans in Maryland, in two different state parks, in August. Last I heard there may have been a fourth rabid beaver (upon trying to track down the most recent beaver attacker, officials came across a dead beaver that tested positive and last I heard it was inconclusive if it was the same beaver or not)
