i know its the mets, but this is the coolest shit iāve ever seen a human being do
Smoove with it tooĀ
This is the kind of shit you see in anime that shows that a certain character is stronger than other characters.Ā
āPathetic. Ā You canāt even hold the bat you dare step to the plate? Have you no respect for the sport?ā
reminds me of this gif
Baseball players are to be feared
Reblogging for the last one
^Same for me
They just kept getting progressively more āwoahā
much woah
Oh my god this is a lucky universe
every time this post comes around, my favorite part is theĀ āI know itās the Metsā qualifier at the beginning lmao like how baseball that this zillion note posts starts withĀ āsorry for putting this hellteam on your dash, bUTā
hate when people say something along the lines of "we must get along so well because you are/i am [some astrological sign]" to me. what are you fucking talking about. we get along because im fucking nice. a decision which i regret when you say shit like that
this post is a good rent lowering gunshot. in case anyone needs one of those
i know i encourage people to learn tree ID and bird ID and love the world around them but the one thing i never warn ppl about is how dramatically it narrows your suspension of belief when youāre watching a tv show filmed thousands of miles from where itās supposed to take place.
was going bananas watching a show set in Oregon but they didnāt edit out a constant chorus of eastern pheobes in the background, but i persevered. bc one i donāt care THAT much and 2 itās kinda a fun part of the je ne sais quoi especially if the show sort of sucks
but i do have my limits and when i was watching a show set in northern Ohio, filmed in BC I actually quit it permanently when the characters walked into a stand of coastal douglas firs.
frustrated further when i complained about this and someone from the PNW was like āyeah Ohio is so flat and nothing that was too obvious.ā
āļønorthern Ohio sits on one of the great lakes and was once home to one of the largest wetlands/swamps on the continent. colonial agriculture devastated it but its remnants have persevered. my issue was not that BC was too beautiful to be Ohio. Itās that Ohioās beauty was not showcased.
STORY I NEED YOU TO READ THIS ARTICLE THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST INSANE EXAMPLES OF THIS PHENOMENON AND I LOVE HOW THE AUTHOR DESCENDS INTO THE DEPTHS OF MADNESS OVER IT.
The story behind cinemaās most mysterious bird.
what is your LEAST favorite stitch?
I don't like counted work at fucking all. So: the cross stitch.
reading this as someone who does cross stitch but is scared of the other kinds of embroidery is like overhearing an incredibly tall and buff person say they have beef with Mr. Tom, the kitten that chills at the bookstore
FUCK Mr. Tom and his stupid little fluffy tail ok. And his little charted designs.
Okay, but this neglects the true villain of embroidery stitches: the French knot
Don't you dare malign my girl again
Ok the french knot is very useful but it is a BITCH to do it consistently
We talk about how this websiteās hate mail game is insane, but this might just be a new level
"skill issue" made entirely from French knots is a next level roast. no coming back from that one. damn

they're only allowed to play chase when it rains
if you complete one task off your to do list you should be allowed 3 days of chilling afterwards as a reward
Based on a true story
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as āproblematicā in class and our professor was like, āThatās cool, but āproblematicā doesnāt really mean anything. It means that the thing youāre describing has a problem, and in and of itself thatās not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else itās not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like youāre trying to say that this is bad, but you donāt want to say ābad.ā Is that right?ā
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the ābadā thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, āIām uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.ā
Once we stopped calling things āproblematicā and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, āthatās racistā or āthatās misogynisticā or āew capitalism grossā out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, āUhhh... Iām not sure whatās so bad?ā and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I canāt help but think of this professor being like, āGood starting point, now letās get specific.ā I think when we have to commit to saying āthatās ___ā it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever weāre claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes itās art, and it should be full of problems, because thatās what art is.

The way the Scion's deaths in the averted future is so nicely done. You don't see how, or where. Just the implication that they were together, and that the Warrior of Light died trying to protect the twins. The unspoken implication that they all did their best to stick together as the world fell apart around them, and that in the end they all fell together too...
And just, especially the WoL's body lying in front of Alphinaud and Alisaie. The game thus far bad built such strong bonds between them that even at the end, feeling themself dying from Black Rose, they still do their best to save them...
Heartbreaking. Such excellent visual storytelling.
#it's also the thing that would break urianger's heart the most#no matter how much he cares for the wol in ANY universe#it's failing to save the twins that would break him - by @anneapocalypse
YES. YES YOU GET IT EXACTLY. He's known them since they were babies and he loves them so much. The idea of them being hurt is his worst nightmare - he deepens his involvment with the Warrior of Darkness immediately after Alisaie is hurt, and doesn't that say everything - and I can only imagine what it would do to his heart to find out that they died and not even the WoL could protect them. That the WoL died trying and still failed, despite all their power.
I can't imagine knowledge more likely to make Urianger agree to help the Exarch with his plans, honestly.

Tan prepared to photograph the sunrise at the Gates of Heaven but the weather didnāt cooperate. However, he didnāt leave the location and stayed around for a bit, and nature presented him with this photo opportunity.
āWaking up at 3am to catch the sunrise at the famous Bali Gates of Heaven only to be disappointed as I was received by gloomy skies. Nonetheless I was soaking in the peaceful presence of the sacred ground, when suddenly Mt. Agung started smoking from afar. Standing in the middle of the gates is the local guardian of the Lempuyang Temple. Thankful to be at the right place at the right time to capture this once in [a] life time, incredible moment on camera.ā

I'm not the first to point it out but fire lord ozai really had just a comically short reign. He fumbled it so badly. Imagine. You get the throne. You tell your gay son to go find a mythical hero who doesn't exist anymore so he'll stop embarrassing you & he really thinks he's gonna do it. Lol. Time to keep this war going for another hundred years. In the time it takes to crack your knuckles the fuckhead actually did it. But then he makes friends with the mythical hero who doesn't exist. And you're like hey wait. Stop that. You've already fumbled it unbelievably badly. Fucked it up on a scale most rulers could only dream of. You get pacifism blasted straight to hell. Your gay ass son is the new king. What the fuck. And then you like die in prison and nobody cares
Cannot stress enough that he gave Zuko a purposefully impossible task (find the avatar) and three (3) years later he actually fucking did it. He gets like a messenger hawk or whatever saying hey the avatar is alive. Btw. & he's like what the fuck. & within six months of this he has fumbled not only the crown but also the war started by his great grandfather, ongoing for a full century, until YOU 𫵠(Ozai) tried to be funny. Little did he know the power of friendship was about to be hilarious
Imagine if sisyphus was like hey boss I'm about to finish rolling that boulder like you asked me to š & then it rolls back down and kills you instantly
friend of mine recommended a video essay that's like 5 hours long about why it's currently a whole Thing for fascists to claim they only eat meat and demonize vegetables etc etc, and it's genuinely quite well researched in many places and contains some fascinating history and has made me feel very weird about my status as an adult who enjoys drinking milk. but I've not finished it and I genuinely don't know if I will because at one point the ol' "you can't say you care about animals and also eat animals" chestnut got dropped by the white vegan essayist and it put such a bad taste in my mouth that I had to leave instantly
like idk man it just feels genuinely parodic to dedicate hours to analyzing how foodways have frequently been used as white supremacist propaganda and then casually toss out an argument that pretty invariably demonizes indigenous hunting practices with 0 regard for traditional knowledge and land stewardship guiding those practices
Every time I hear a white vegan say that I want to throw the rubble of the Klamath Dams at them.
The largest dam removal in U.S. history. So successful that the salmon that havenāt run freely in the river for literally over a century came back the next year. Not steady progress over a decade as expected, the very next salmon run they came home. No one alive saw salmon in that river outside the hatcheries kept by nativeās tribes and the Department of Fish And Wildlife scientists desperately trying to save them. One of the activists who helped bring the suit spoke of their dying grandmother making them promise to bring the fish home, and they didnāt know how that was possible, but they spent decades doing it.
The legal basis for successfully suing the power company who owned the dams was Indigenous treaty rights to eat the fish. Eating the fish was the one thing in a century that succeeded in being a clear and legally binding right that superseded the desires of white capital and industry. I have been going to the public interest environmental law conference off and on for 20 years where a lot of organizing for Undam The Klamath happened. Iāve heard updates about every legal tact they tried as they happened, and they tried everything.
There are healthy, thriving salmon, trout, and lamprey in a rewilding and recovering Klamath River right now as a direct result of Indigenous people eating them. Of their legally binding right to eat them. They sure as fuck care more about those fish than any white vegan ever could. They are salmon people that the Creator sent Salmon to feed, while charging the People with protecting and stewarding them. Itās not possible to learn about salmon and trout in the Pacific Northwest without learning this, and itās unambiguously racist to dismiss this symbiotic relationship.
The white vegans are trying to get all hunting and fishing banned in Oregon, and thatās quite possibly the single most catastrophic thing that could be done to the animals here because we killed off all the major predators of creatures like deer and without anything hunting them their numbers will explode, eat all the vegetation, destroy the ecosystem, and then die along with everything else in that failing ecosystem. Controlled hunting of deer is vitally necessary for the deer to survive. This is something Native people know, but patronizing racist savior-complex white people refuse to listen to.
I have a whole collection of Oregonās Public Broadcastingās documentaries about Klamath River or the larger story of fish and people in the region. If you watch nothing else, watch Klamath Dams Are Coming Out, First Salmon Ceremony, After The Dams, and First Decent (Native made). It could not be clearer that the salmon are being protected and nourished by the people who eat them, and that stewardship is a massive part of their creation myths. But it contradicts political vegan dogma so they donāt listen.
The Klamath River Runs Free
#also do you have any idea how much conservation is funded by people who want to eat those animals#at least in the us anytime someone buys ammo or hunting equipment or hunting licenses that money goes directly to state wildlife agencies
