From what I get it, the person isn’t necessarily trans. I understand that person probably didn’t intend to dismiss them: in many contexts, heterosexual identity is often expected or imposed on people who later realize through experience that this identity doesn’t fit for them… their comment may have been meant as an invitation to reflect more deeply on one’s being. That said, regardless of intention, the remark comes across rather dismissive and disrespectful, and that matters. Just because you experience more discrimination doesn’t justify invalidating someone else’ individuality. Heterophobia, just like queerphobia, even thought it’s not that frequent, still it is not acceptable. Ultimately, it is up to you to define what and who you are, not from others.

my mom really likes a certain song and i have so SO many criticisms for the lyrics and could write an entire essay ranting about it but she would hate that and lives in a world so fundamentally different i would genuinely upset her so every time she plays it im just trying so hard to focus on the rhythm (which is very interesting mind you) and i feel like im biting and clawing the walls
