The air seemed to still. The friendly smiles of the two other sorcerers slipped off, both letting a single word drop from their lips:

New York, 2010: Dave Stutler, heir to Merlin’s power, tries to escape his destiny. Then his ring had to go and summon Merlin from the past.
Along with Miles, a secretive young wizard also summoned by the ring, the three become involved in a battle of good and evil that has been raging since Camelot and discover foes of Camelot’s past, startling truths about their destinies, and a connection to each other that proves their meeting to be more than accidental.

Halloweentown x Luck of the Irish DCOM Crossover Prompt??
Okay, hear me out. This idea popped into my head just today.
Dylan Piper, Marnie Piper's half-human warlock little brother, is 12 in Halloweentown (1998).
Kyle Johnson, half-leprechaun whose family luck allows him to pass for human, is 15 in Luck of the Irish (2001).
Meaning, they're technically the same age.
Meaning, if we stick to a more strict timeline than the movies did, they'd be going to college around the same time.
So let's say, in an alternate universe where Return to Halloweentown never happened, Dylan goes to a normal human college. (Or, if you want to be generous, maybe Dylan transfers after that first year at Witch U.)
And Kyle? He goes to the same college.
And somehow, some way, they meet and it comes out that they have something pretty massive in common:
They're both half-humans with an overprotective redhead mom who kept them totally in the dark about magic for their entire childhoods, and a free-spirited magical grandparent who wasn't thrilled their kid married a human.
Kyle gets to learn there's this whole other world of magical creatures beyond just leprechauns, Dylan gets to meet someone who had a similar experience to him outside of his family, the rest of his family gets to learn there are other magical creatures still hiding out in the human world, who can now visit Halloweentown more freely because Marnie opened the portal between worlds.
I just think it'd be a fun time.
EDIT: It occurs to me this is kind of a reflavoring of my A Mingling of Magics concept, where characters from different works with similar experiences get to meet and trade stories. Am I unoriginal? Eh. If Steven Moffat could create at least three different versions of the same type of female heroine in Doctor Who, I could come up with two similar fic ideas that are still worthwhile.

Interactions I'm Looking Forward to in Jumanji: Open World
With the avatars getting to act as their own characters and the real-world characters getting to interact with them separately, here's what I'm looking forward to, as well as some speculation on character arcs:
Smolder Bravestone-Spencer: While Spencer in the last film finally got the need to leave the world behind out of his system, I do think there's still something to explore with his character: With Jumanji coming to the real world, how does Spencer face it as himself, and not a character? Even Ming had skills in stealth, though she was much closer to Spencer in weaknesses. And he still identified with Bravestone near the end of the last film, in spite of spending most of the run as Ming. This film will be a test of, can he bring that Bravestone strength over to the real world for good?
In addition, I feel like Bravestone's in-game personalty will either be a lot like Buzz Lightyear in the first Toy Story or a total egotist with Main Character Syndrome. This is supported by the fact that the Jumanji video game centers a lot on him and his backstory -- none of the other characters get arch enemies or backstory, except Mouse as Bravestone's valet. Seeing the real Bravestone might turn Spencer off of wanting to be him and further see the value in being himself. Spencer, or even Grandpa Eddie, also might help Bravestone see the value in the rest of his team, something both players had to learn in the last film.
Fridge-Mouse Finbar: With Milo seemingly out of the way, Fridge is the only real-world character who has spent time as Mouse. I could see the real Mouse being super-subservient to Bravestone, so maybe Fridge could help Mouse see the value in himself, since Fridge too had to come around and see Mouse's value while playing as him, to the point where he took pride in being the Backpack Guy at the end of TNL.
Shelly Oberon-Bethany-Spencer/Martha: Shelly is definitely the nerd of the party, but has never been played by a nerd. So his real personality could be more of a shy, bumbling absent-minded professor type. Bethany was really good at bringing Martha out of her shell in the first film, so I could see her helping Shelly in that regard too. Spencer or Martha could also relate to learning to see themselves as badasses without losing their nerdy qualities. Shelly might do the best in the real world, adapting to the new technology.
Alex-Seaplane: Of all the players, Alex spent more time as Seaplane than any other character spent in their avatar. But Alex got a chance to grow up, while Seaplane never did. I feel like Alex would want to thank Seaplane for keeping him alive all that time, and, as a dad, also be protective of Seaplane, who as a pilot is likely more of a daredevil in-game. Seaplane is also the only character who has been played by just one player (since Ruby was briefly played by Fridge), again giving them a unique relationship.
Bethany-Seaplane: Bethany's initial attraction to Alex-as-Seaplane gave way to a more selfless, platonic affection as the first film went on, especially once she saw the real Alex grown up. But with Seaplane now a separate character from Alex, Bethany would be free to flirt with him as herself. I just think that could be hilarious.
Ruby Roundhouse-Martha: After Alex, Martha is the one who spent the most time as her character. But seeing Ruby as separate from herself, seeing how she conducts herself in real time, could either make Martha really starstruck or really insecure. But I also think Ruby might have the hardest time adapting to the real world, so in that regard Martha could be a helpful guide.
Nora-The Group: I think Nora will have a larger role, as the only connection to the original film. have this theory that once Nora witnesses the chaos of Jumanji in the real world again, she might start to remember the original timeline and thus give the kids and Eddie a heads-up on what to expect. (And maybe, juuuuust maybe, she calls up her niece Judy? For a split-second Kirsten Dunst cameo?)

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but can I just say:
The more I see (from the sidelines) of what Miraculous Ladybug has turned into over 10 years/6 seasons, the more I'm glad Danny Phantom ended after Season 3.
Because I could very easily see DP getting more and more unhinged had it been left to go on for too long in a similar manner to ML.
Future Villains: Comparing Morgana (BBC Merlin) and Moriarty (Young Sherlock)
Spoilers under cut for Young Sherlock and BBC Merlin
I love them both, but what automatically makes Moriarty more well-drawn as a future villain for me, in comparison to Morgana, is that while BBC Merlin made Morgana evil by taking away all her good choices until villainy was all that was left, Moriarty retains his agency the whole time.
While getting kicked out of Oxford was out of his hands, he did not have to go with Sherlock. He could have easily been angry with him for the expulsion. But no - James still chooses to help Sherlock, because he finds a kindred spirit, a kindred intelligence, in him. He chooses to go to Paris. He makes a split second decision to kill someone to save Xiao Wei's life.
And the scary part is not that he took a life. It was hardly a choice, more of a reflexive action.
No.
The scary part is that part of him likes it.
Even before the shot, he is enthralled by the gas poisoning demonstration. Before this, his transgressions were more along the lines of youthful rebellion, like Sherlock. But Paris awakens something in him. Something dark. A lust for power and control that will only grow stronger. And so, even after hearing Xiao Wei's story about how the nerve gas destroyed her life, he chooses to steal the formula behind everyone's back.
Morgana was also initially portrayed skirting the rules to do what was right, a rebel who talked back to authority because she, as the king's ward, could. Her spite could turn to wrath when given the right push, and she flirted with the idea of killing Uther, or teaming up with sorcerers to get rid of him -- just him. But even then, she retained that moral core of wanting to stop persecution, to get justice for others as well as herself, to feel safe. That wrath always felt separate from her friendships with Arthur, Gwen, and Merlin, in spite of Uther being Arthur's father.
Once she developed magic, she became desperate and scared. It wasn't just about rebellion, but survival. She tried to get help from those she trusted. But between Gaius and Kilgharrah strong-arming Merlin into secrecy and the druids he sent her to getting killed by Uther's knights, she's left with few options until Morgause comes along. But even then, she wrestles with her conscience. She holds out hope for Uther for as long as she can until she can't anymore.
The step she took from wanting to stop the persecution of magic to selfishly killing anyone who stood in her way, even friends who never did her harm, is never seen. It's not hard to believe she was radicalized by Morgause, but it happened off screen. Between seasons. The audience does not get to see it. As a result, we don't know how much of that came from Morgana and how much from Morgause.
While she chose to team up with Morgause before that, and the reasons make sense - Morgause was her long-lost sister who could help her with magic- even then, Morgana did not choose to be the anchor of the sleeping spell. She had no idea what was going on, making it all the worse when Merlin poisoned her to save Camelot without telling her why. Merlin's choice and Morgause's choices were the final straw, not Morgana's own.
It felt like Morgana got pushed by "fate" (the writers) into becoming as evil as she did. She was always going to turn against Uther, EDIT: and she does have a spiteful, vengeful streak from early on. But turning against Camelot and her friends took a lot of handwaving and outside assistance.
In contrast, Moriarty's going down the path of darkness with his eyes wide open, and we're seeing it happen in real time. Which makes the fact that he still cares for Sherlock, is trying to convince him to join, all the more tragic. Because Sherlock never will.
Moriarty will have to choose between his ambitions and his friend, and while we know which one will win out, it's still important to see the moment the choice is made. Not to see it made for them.
Merlin fans, forgive me, but I feel like Young Sherlock in one season succeeded in an area where Merlin struggled for two:
Gave me very good reasons to believe that the co-protagonist character destined for evil would indeed choose to become evil. And I mean like evil evil, not just morally gray.
