vil is not a jealous person. at least, that's what he tells himself right up until the moment it actually happens. the two of you are walking through a shopping mall together, casually browsing stores while vil gives his usual brutally honest fashion commentary, when a stranger stops you to give a compliment. nothing romantic. nothing flirtatious. they simply tell you that they love your outfit or think you have a nice smile before wishing you a good day and moving on. the interaction lasts less than a minute. completely harmless. yet the moment you shyly thank them and visibly blush from the unexpected praise, something strange twists in vil's chest. he doesn't even realize he's staring until you've already turned back toward him, still looking flustered. the rest of the shopping trip continues normally... except vil suddenly finds himself paying far more attention to you than before. he notices the way your face is still a little pink. the small smile lingering on your lips. the obvious happiness that a simple compliment brought you. it's ridiculous, really. he receives compliments every day. why should this bother him? and yet, after several minutes of silently stewing, he finally lets out a sigh. "honestly," he says, crossing his arms. "you look as though someone just handed you the crown jewels." you laugh and explain that compliments from strangers are rare and therefore memorable. to your surprise, vil immediately looks offended on your behalf. "rare?" he stops walking altogether. "do people not tell you these things?" before you can answer, he's already launching into a detailed explanation of everything admirable about you. your style. your smile. your kindness. the way you carry yourself. the list just keeps going. by the time he's finished, you're even more flustered than before, and vil finally seems satisfied. only then does he continue walking as though nothing happened. when you jokingly ask if he was jealous, he nearly trips over his own feet. "don't be ridiculous." the answer comes far too quickly. unfortunately for him, the faint pink dusting his cheeks completely destroys whatever dignity he was trying to preserve.
