I realized Iāve had an account here for quite a long time, but never thought to make an intro. So here it is!
āāā
About Me:
-You can call me Enchantress (Ena for short)!
-I use she/her pronouns but defaulting to they/them is okay, too.
-While I am old enough to be watching DRDT, (16+), Iām still a minor! So please keep that in mind while interacting with me.
-Iām on the Aro spectrum, still figuring out exactly what kind of microlabel Iād prefer or if I want one.
-Iām an INFP, for all you Myers-Briggs fans.
-I like reading, writing, and drawing! Iām a bit new to posting art, but people have been really nice so hopefully I can keep doing so in the future.
-I usually get obsessed with one character in particular when I like a piece of media, and right now thatās DRDT and by extension Ace Markey. If you want to ask me questions about him, know for certain that I will answer and answer with plenty of enthusiasm haha.
About This Account:
-I post mostly DRDT-related things, specifically Ace Markey-related things. Though I do have a few other pieces of media I may post about from time to time.
-On that note, I often post theories or general thoughts, but from time to time Iāll also post writing and art. If you want to see more of my writing, I have an ao3 account of the same name as this account.
-Thereās going to be a lot of death-related topics on this account, considering what Iām interested in. I may also get into some darker stuff, but will always do my best to add any trigger or content warnings! If I ever donāt do so properly, feel free to tell me.
Boundaries:
-I donāt have many, but donāt call me slurs or be generally rude, please. Iām not most skilled socially and will take insults to heart if I donāt know you well enough.
-I also have medical-based phobias (specifically a needle phobia), so Iād prefer you not send me asks that go in-depth about that kind of thing. Though Iām not sure why someone would do that, haha.
-While I am a massive multishipper who will ship almost anyone with my favorite character, emphasis on almost. Proship-y stuff like a child x adult or inc*st are not appreciated here, so donāt send me stuff like that.
āāā
And thatās about it! If you have any (non-invasive) questions about me or my account, feel free to ask!

Honestly, I can relate to you loving and feeling like you're the only one who ships a specific TMF pairing between side characters. I ship Hendie (Henry x Sadie) and have written 4 Word pages worth of headcanons for them, as well as currently working on three Hendie one-shots for my own pleasure š š
I've read all your Maria x Liam fics (as well as the Stacy/Liam ones), and honestly, I love their dynamic so much I almost like their pairing more than the more popular ships. Like, I love how the dialogue flows so effortlessly. The characters balance each other out in funny and meaningful ways. I love the way Maria teases Liam and how he can be so oblivious, yet perceptive (on occasion) and emotionally intelligent.
You have no idea how unbelievably happy this message made me, anon. I put more pressure on myself to āproveā how good a ship/dynamic is when Iām writing a rarepair, which can cause me to set too high a standard for showing off every facet of their dynamic perfectly and can make me feel not as confident in my writing. Which isā¦Not ideal, lol.
So it makes me VERY happy to know someone out there enjoyed those fics, especially the Maria x Liam ones! I love writing dialogue (especially Maria teasing Liam, lol), so Iām glad their banter felt good. And Iām very glad that itās visible how Maria and Liam, despite being similar on a surface level, also have differences which can be balanced out by the other. And Iām especially happy that Liam came across as both socially unintelligent and oblivious, and yet observant and surprisingly emotionally intelligent at times. Itās a weird balance to have to try and strike.
Anyways, thank you so much for the ask! It made me incredibly happy! :D
Also, Iām glad to meet a fellow rarepair-shipper, we truly are starving out here, haha. Hendie has always sounded very interesting to me, since it has this very specific vibe no other tmf ship really has. And āLooks cute but is an assholeā x āLooks scary but is the nicest person everā is a very funny contrast.
I know itās mostly for meta reasons, but I love that Liam canonically says āfrickā instead of āfuckā. I like to imagine that the rest of the Dromies have literally no problem swearing, and itās just him who does that. No one can figure out why. Liam says heās āsaving it for a special occasion,ā whatever that means.

I love Stacy. She was done dirty, but I love her in spite of that.
I love how she is very clearly an exaggerated depiction of a stereotypical romance novel/movie protagonist. Sheās a ānerdā who loves books (whoād definitely read at parties, lol). Sheās so clumsy it borders on unrealistic. She comes off sort of awkward, and she apologizes for things that arenāt her fault. Sheās based on a common archetype.
But I also love how she subverts that same archetype by knowing what she wants and being confident enough in herself to go after it. She never questions how Luke could ever love someone like her, or anything like that. Sheās confident in who she is, and in fact, she thinks her and Luke would make a great match! Sheās so confident in this, it ends up being a flaw, since she fails to fully consider Lukeās perspective. And she gets so caught up in imagining a happily ever after that she goes in for a kiss before she even gets confirmation he likes her. She does the polar opposite of the stereotypical 900-page slowburn most romantic leads go through.
Since the rest of her character follows stereotypical romance tropes so clearly, and the romantic pairing sheās in has the ābook nerd x popular boyā dynamic, youād expect her biggest flaw to be that sheās shy and needs to come out of her shell and believe in herself. But itās actually the complete oppositeāSheās so confident in herself and her ability to make Luke like her that she ends up ignoring his feelings entirely.
Idk, I just think that playing with those tropes is really fun, and I canāt wait for season two to show me her true potential by using her established traits in more interesting ways. As is, it seems like she was given an archetype the audience was supposed to see as played out or unlikable, so I hope they lean into what makes her stand out, and portray her as an actual person. Because I think her particular blend of traits can actually be quite entertaining. What does a hopeless romantic do after the romantic fantasy world she got lost in breaks apart?
I've said it other places, too, but I have to say that I absolutely love how Liam genuinely looks kind of pissed in this moment. Heās been defending this man against very reasonable accusations for weeks and then Jake pays him back by immediately turning around and accusing him of stabbing him in the back with no proof. No wonder Liamās mad, in his mind, friends always believe in their friends no matter what, and Jake is blatantly disregarding that.
I really want to take a post to break down Liam's one scene in the Milliot Spin-Off. Because along with it having some of our best insight into Liam's updated characterization, since it was written most recently, it also gives me So Many Thoughts.
The first interesting thing about this scene is that it's basically Liam's first-ever prolonged interaction with female characters. He's had small lines and indirectly talked to some of the female characters a few times, but this is the first time he's actually had a real conversation with any of them. Which is particularly notable for Liamās character, since he's built an entire persona around how much he likes girls, despite the fact he never seems to interact with them on-screen, haha.
As yucky as some of early-tmf Liam's lines are, I actually do really like the contrast it creates between the person that Liam wants to be seen as, and who he actually is. And by that I mean, we see a lot of how Liam talks about girls to his male friends, and the ladies' man persona he puts on throughout most of the series. He is confident, vulgar, and...well, clearly trying to be smooth. But then we get to see his first prolonged interaction with female characters...And he's honestly kind of pathetic?
And I'm not just talking about how he cowers once Zoey gets angry. Like, let's ask ourselves, why would Liam want to share a story about how he got horribly rejected by a girl?
The obvious explanation is that Liam's a pretty socially unaware guy. And you could argue that he just doesn't realize that Zoey and Lia are laughing at him and not with him. That interpretation makes sense when you pair it with how Liam seems to genuinely think his pick-up line was good and doesn't notice Zoey's judgmental tone when she asks if that's really what he said. He just carries on with his story.
However, I think you could go even further than that. We see in scenes like the freshman year flashback that Liam highly values positive female attention, seemingly more than positive male attention. He wants Henry to delete the scene-phase photos because he's worried about how girls' perspectives on him would change. He doesn't even bother to mention how popular guys might not think he's cool anymore.
And I think this scene could be an extension of that. If Liam does know the story is a bit embarrassing, maybe he just doesn't care. Because the girls are smiling and laughing and reacting positively, which is something he can't usually achieve when it comes to girls. And so, being as desperate for that positive attention as he is, he excitedly continues on with his story despite that fact that it doesn't reflect on him all that positively. This also gives us an explanation for why he's distracted enough to bump into Elliot--Or, well, it gives us an explanation beyond Liam being an inconsiderate asshole in general, haha.
The next thing that happens, however, seemingly does not line up with him trying to please the girls, because he insults Zoey by saying she looks like a trash can.
But the funny thing is, it doesn't really seem like he meant to insult her? At least not in an offensive way. It doesn't come across like heās insulting her because he hates her, it comes across like heās insulting her because he's treating her like she's one of the guys. By which I mean, he freaks out when she actually gets really mad, like he expected her to react like Henry would. To act a little frustrated with him and then laugh it off, because they're friends and she knows he's just joking. If you look closely in the last two photos, you can see his expression switch from slight hesitation/confusion (wait does she look mad?) to a very nervous smile (oh god sheās mad I better clarify that I was just kidding uh oh).
Which just shows such remarkably terrible social skills on his part that I had to point it out, because I know I say Liam has bad social skills a lot, but this is where I think it comes across most prominently. Who would ever, in their right mind, assume Zoey would be chill with someone insulting her under any circumstance? No one with any small amount of social intelligence. Only Liam could ever socially fumble this hard, which is why it's extra funny when Elliot speaks up about being jealous of Jake's social skills specifically, and not Liam's.
Anyways, Liam seemingly gets chewed out by Zoey off-screen, and unlike when Drew or Henry seem legitimately annoyed at him, Liam actually looks effected by the scolding when he comes back, like he regrets what he did.
Which does not match up with the always confident, unapologetic Liam from other scenes. Either whatever Zoey threatened him with was actually super scary and bad, or he regrets ruining the one time he seemed to be getting a positive reaction from her and her friend. Or both.
Finally, this isnāt super Liam-related, but I just think it's cute that Henry runs over to Jake immediately upon seeing him. Henry absolutely adores him, lol. Liam does not do the same, possibly because he's distracted by the Zoey incident and possibly because him and Jake aren't as close as Henry and Jake are. Or both.
So yeah, that's what I think of this scene in the lens of Liam. Only he could socially fuck up so badly that people dramatically gasp behind him at whatever he just had the nerve to say. And I find it very funny that, after building up his ladies' man persona for so long, the first-ever time we see him actually interacting with any girls, he's embarrassing himself just to please them. Like I said earlier, very fun contrast. Liam is not smooth or charismatic at all and is, in fact, the least smooth and charismatic out of all his friends. Don't let his persona or stellar voice acting fool you.
For as much as I ramble about him, Iām 99% sure that the initial reason I ever started caring about Liam was just because I saw him as aro-spec coded. He got one scene where everyone, including himself, acknowledged that he doesnāt understand romanticism, and I was sold. He was immediately my favorite from that point onward, no matter how many uncomfortable lines he got.

Weird tmf confession: I misremembered Mariaās canon design having a beanie for months. I think I mustāve seen a fan edit and thought sheād always had a beanie? And so now I have multiple fics where I mention Maria āadjusting her hatā and donāt elaborate any further, which Iām sure confused a lot of people.
The Jiam Analysis video! Which discusses Jake and Liamās relationship throughout the first season of TMF, and how thereās more substance to it than what you see at first glance. I think their relationship is interesting, so I made a video about it! It may not be perfect, but I hope anyone who watches enjoys!
So uh. I was more excited than I predicted about the Jiam video, haha. I somehow managed to finish everything already!
So the video shall be posted in ten hours (because I heard itās bad to post stuff late at night for algorithm reasons? I have no idea if thatās true but may as well play it safe).
The Liam Analysis Video has reached 1,000 views! Thank you so much to everyone who watched, it makes me very happy to think I got to spread my love of this character so far! :)
Also, this seems like a good time to announce Iāve been making a second video focusing specifically on Jake and Liamās friendship. The script and audio are complete, and Iām about 7/8 done with the editing. If all goes well, itāll release sometime in the next week-ish! Just that last 1/8th of editing, writing the closed captions, and a few other small things left to do. Again, thanks so much for supporting the last video, and I hope thereās some enjoyment to be found in this next one, too!
If Maxed Out is gonna try and recruit Jake, I really hope Hailey is also brought up as a potential replacement for their missing bandmate as well. Because I had a vision of Jamie trying to convince the boys to recruit her instead and I find that idea very amusing. Jamie doesnāt know anything about this Jake guy, but she does know thereās a very cool and pretty blue-haired girl right there who is just as good at singing as him.

I love how Drewās first instinct is to call Hailey a control freak when heās trying to find a reason Jake should leave her. Because I think it really gives away what he values most: Control.
I donāt think itās a coincidence that Drewās first instinct when figuring out how Jake could make friends with a group of people Drew said heās supposed to hate is to assume Hailey somehow puppeteered Jake into it. The easiest way he can rationalize everything to himself is through the lens of control, and he fears Hailey is taking his control over Jake. Because thatās what Hailey must want, right? Control? Thereās no way she could just want a friend.
I also donāt think itās a coincidence that even though Drew is friends with a bunch of popular people, the people heās closest with are the ones who started out high school having no friends other than him and each other. Because that meant he got to decide what they thought about everybody and who they interacted with. The other popular guys could ditch him to hang out with each other whenever they wanted, but Jake, Henry, and Liam needed him.
Iāve said it before, but I think the main reason heās still good friends with Henry and Liam, despite them having the not-normal-ness Drew claims to hate in spades, is because they always listen to him. Even after he blows up at Jake, he has no doubts they will keep following after him, and they do. He is the one who gets to decide he is done with Jake, and therefore, so are Henry and Liam.
ā¦And I think that assumption is going to end up being his biggest mistake. Whether itās Liam or Henry who leaves next, I think that that decision will end up jump-starting the inevitable collapse of their trio, along with how Drew acts in season two.
One idea Iāve always liked for season two is Henry or Liam making a new friend separate from all the Music Club drama, especially if itās a popular guy Drew is already sort of friends with. Just so they can kind of see what Jake went through, but in a way where itās way clearer that they could all be hanging out together or at the very least being cordial, but Drew still canāt allow it without getting defensive. And they start to realize that, huh, itās a little weird how Drew is the only one allowed to have other friends. There are a lot of other ways it could go down, too, but Drewās fear of loss of control (+abandonment) being explored that way would be interesting to me.
