Sure he’s a great politician and can talk circles around most people, but that’s only bc he prepares constantly on what to say and how to say it in response to any possible answer. He’s a shy actor, he can play off a script with ease but he fumbles at his own words.

Ofc being a prince doesn’t allow you to naturally form normal friendships, Basen is there but he’s not there to be his friend and only his guard in the eyes of the court. And uh Basen struggles socially in his own way. Then he’s in the rear palace all of his teen years playing a character who was 5 years older than him while also being harassed and catcalled at constantly. Like this dude’s social development was so fucked it’s no surprise now that he locks himself up in his office and really just talks to his inner circle which mostly consists of the ppl who raised him and Maomao.

And despite being a good politician, he’s been backing away from the social interactions that are integral to politics, and it’s getting worse with each book. He’s at the point where his reclusive tendencies are actively having major effects on the story rn.

So I honestly think it’s weird that ppl think he’s like this silly social butterfly at times when he's absolutely not. However, I get it bc as the audience we can see how he acts with those he’s closest to and also only the earlier books have just been visually adapted.

Haru, more than anyone, would understand WHY akira loves akechi despite everything. She still loves her father after all the awful shit he did. Its not something you can control, and she knows this!

And I feel like haru would never stop true love because she was almost forced into an arranged marriage. The freedom to love whoever you want no matter what people may say is haru's THING. so no she wouldn't stop talking to akira over him still loving akechi.

Jinshi looked rather sad at the comment, she could speculate that it was because there was no solution to the discomfort she was feeling, and like always he wanted to solve everything.

“Stop worrying so much, it’s natural.” She said, placing her head against his chest to calm him down. Jinshi reciprocated the gesture by laying his atop of hers. The curves of their bodies fitting each other like puzzle pieces.

“I love you.” He hummed into the air. Maomao was startled but she didn’t dare to move, the last time she had heard those words was when Jinshi ‘proposed’ to her yet she hadn’t said it back.

Jinshi on the other hand didn’t seem angry at the silence, once so long ago he had begged the heavens for Maomao to reciprocate his feelings, and now he had her sitting on his lap and he was content with that.

Maomao moved her hand up as if she were trying to give him a hug, burying herself deeper into his body. The gesture made Jinshi quite happy but he could have never guessed the words that came out of his bride’s mouth at that moment.

“I love you.” She whispered just loud enough for him to hear it.

the PT might have seen Akechi break down, but they would not know the Akechi who threw a glove to the boy he planned to kill. the world might have seen the myriad faces of Ren, but only Akechi knew under the mask someone who would not let go of their justice. i see Akechi's trip to LeBlanc on 2/2 as an indication that while he believes in Ren's morals, he also knows Ren could very well cave to his own feelings - only possible when they have developed a bond. why else would he make the trip despite refusing to hang out, beside meta reasons, if only to make sure that Ren wouldn't cave ?

to what extent would you do for the sake of your justice ? would you sacrifice the world to save who can't be saved, or would you take away everyone's happiness so they can be free ? only Akechi truly understood what Ren could do, because that was literally his whole life.

Ren lost everything to save a person. then he risked everything to save the world, once again. and then, for the third time, he stood to lose everything again. that is his, and also Akechi's, justice (the parallel of Akechi's three choices - his mother, the thieves, and himself).
