More of the OCs that make up the Zion Archives crew, so far I've posted 3 of the crew members (Trouble, Freya, and Freyr), so here's 6 more of the crew. For the record, the crew consists of 14 scientists/military personnal. There's another fun fact about this crew, which I'll reveal at the end.
I've spoken about Danger and Faraday before, but we also have Jack, Rascal, Gene, and Hope.
Jack is trans, and an incredibly impressive engineer. He butts heads with Faraday constantly as they both have very different ideas about what takes priority on the ship. Faraday takes exception to the changes that Jack has made to her perfect design, Jack thinks that's she far to concerned with wanting the ship to look good than to actually be functional and accessible. He's Irish, and throughout the mission he becomes something of a confident to Danger, especially as things get worse.
Gene is Danger's ex wife, the captain of the mission, and at the start of the mission she is the current head of the Zion Archives. They met on a in-Matrix mission, and they were married a few months later. They divorced about a decade later due to different priorities, he went on to become the Commander of the fleet, she became the head of the Archives. But they remained on good terms, to the point that Danger was her first and only choice for second in command. She's wanted to go on this mission, which was deemed extremely dangerous and a potential waste of resources, for years. Now that she's dying of brain cancer, she's called on every favour she has in order to fulfill one of her life's dreams.
Her other dream, that of removing the dark clouds from the sky, was taken up by her protege, Hope. She's being primed to succeed Gene once she dies. She's a regular ray of sunshine, and an eternal optimist. She can be a bit grating at times, and her method of team building involves jollying people along, which doesn't always work. But she tries! Because of her youth, and being a little bit sheltered, she doesn't have the same experience with leading a team, or working with different people, to the annoyance of some of the older crew members.
Finally, Rascal is the pilot of the crew. She was Danger's pick for the mission, they go waaay back, and she was a bridesmaid at their wedding. She's happily married, with two kids, but she's watching all the younger ones move on their careers, and doing the work she used to do before she settled down to be a mother and housewife, and she misses it. She misses the high octane action of flying the tunnels by the seat of her pants, outracing the sentinels, all that fun stuff! So, she aired out her old uniform, including her medal for extremely awesome flying (a present from her husband), and hopped back into the pilot's chair. She cares for the crew, and tries to pass on her understanding of people to Hope, and is always up for a chat in the cockpit, and a friendly cuppa. She also has a lovely warm laugh that will immediately put you at ease.
And the second fact? Out of the 14 crew members that start on Voyager, only 6 people come back alive.
I have been typing for about an hour now, so I'm going to stop now. But two last facts about the crew for now.
One: the name of the ship (that Faraday designed and Gene got to help name)? Voyager. Gene may not have been named with Mr Roddenberry in mind, but it's a happy coincidence.
Two: Out of the 14 crew members that leave on Voyager, only 6 come back alive.
