Tbh, I don’t really know much about the game itself. Just judging by appearances, I kind of get the feeling it’s in the same genre as Hades? Or maybe like a mix of Hades and Diablo series... It doesn’t seem like a roguelike/roguelite, more like a hack-and-slash type of game. Not exactly my favorite genre, so I’m not sure if I’d actually play it. But then again, I might give it a try for our ghost boy’s sake! (Though, as you know, I’m really terrible at games.)
That aside, I think the design itself is awesome! I don’t remember the exact episode name, but it was the one where Sam was about to be forced into marrying Aragon (not Aragorn from LotR lmao). I’m pretty sure this design is based on Danny’s look from that episode, with the shoulder armor and steel boots. Honestly, though, Danny doesn’t really feel like a front-line plate-wearing tank type to me—even if he’d probably think otherwise. He definitely fits better in an assassin/rogue archetype. I really liked the green highlights for the ectoplasmic effect and the choice to give him twin daggers. The only downside is that some of his other abilities, like the ice powers and the later ones he got, seem to be missing. The ice powers especially were such a cool aspect of his abilities.
Also, I thought it was really funny that the dev team finally gave Danny a duplication ability. Setting aside how effective (or not) it looked in the trailer—it honestly didn’t seem all that impressive—it’s hilarious that this was the one power he wanted so badly throughout the show, the one he was always jealous of Vlad for, and he only ends up getting it more than ten years later in a game. It made me feel like the devs actually understood the character really well, which was nice to see.
Plus, it was such a treat to hear David Kaufman’s Danny voice again after so long. I’ve always thought his performance really captured that teenage vibe, and it’s amazing that even after all these years he can still sound so much like a boy. He’s honestly such a huge part of what makes it impossible not to love our beloved little ghost kid.
Anyway... it’s really nice to know Nickelodeon hasn’t completely forgotten Danny. But at the same time it makes me hope (probably in vain) that maybe they’ll make a sequel or even a movie remake someday. That April Fool’s joke was just cruel >:(
