The room was silent, only the sound of papers rustling and pens tapping against the wooden desks as everyone in class worked on their projects.

But you sat still, staring at your notebook, millions of thoughts and ideas darting around your mind, waiting to be used, to be written down and honoured. The paper stayed blank.

You finally looked up from the empty page, eyes shifting to the clock by the door only to be met by disappointment.

2:10. 40 minutes left to go until class is over.

You sighed, looking around the boring classroom until your eyes stopped on a figure, hovering over paper, writing furiously. The green eyed girl had always been a little bit of a scrambled writer. But still, perfect grades every time.

If perfection were a person, her name would be Ellie Williams.

You stared, longer than you should have, until the bell rang. You snapped out of your 'trance' scrambling out of your seat and shoving your things into your bag. Rushing out into the halway a voice made you pause.

"(Y/N)!" The voice called "Wait up!"

You turned around, watching Jesse shove past multiple students towards you.

He finally caught up to you, slightly out of breath but grinning wide. "So, how was English?" He asked.

"Torture." You replied as you made it to your lockers, hand going up to spin the lock.

"Why, did you forget the homework again?" He teased, leaning against his own locker.

You swung open the metal door, shoving your books inside with a disgruntled grumble "No, we had to write a story."

He watched you, cocking an eyebrow, "So? You're smart. And read way more than a normal teenager. What's the problem?"

"I can't write a story if-" You stopped yourself, a familiar laugh echoing down the hallway.

Jesse leaned in, narrowing his eyes, "If what?"

You didn't hear him. Your eyes locked onto the hunched over girl, hands on her knees, cackling at poor Abby Anderson, laying on the ground in defeat, a wet floor sign beside her scowling face. Ellie pointed at Abby, leaning against Dina, the brunette shaking her head in mock disappointment but the smile on her face gave her away.

Jesse followed your gaze, snickering at Abby before looking back at you. "I really hope you're not crushing on my ex. Nothing against it, of course! Just, it'd be weird if it happened again."

Again?

Right. Because Ellie Williams, dork of the century, is dating Dina, your best friends ex. Who is still, very obviously, hung up on her. And somehow didn't rip Ellie apart when he found out they kissed a couple weeks after they broke up. AND somehow stayed friends with her too.

Your gaze snapped back to Jesse, face contorting into a grimace. "What? No, definitely not! She's barely my type."

Jesse raised a brow, looking back at the three girls. You looked down, moving back over to your locker. "And she's your ex, so... it'd be weird."

Jesse shrugged, rubbing his neck, "Super weird."

You rummaged through your bag, trying to distract yourself as the three girls walked past.

"Hey, dude!" Ellie shouted at Jesse, giving him a wave, "We still up for tomorrow?"

Jesse nodded, smirking, "Fuck yeah, I'm gonna beat your ass."

Ellie stuck her tongue out, flipping him off, Dina lightly shoving her, rolling her eyes. You watched as they walked away, barely giving you a glance. You've never really talked with them much, or rather, they never really talked to you much. You'd tried to before, with Jesse around, of course, but they never really seemed fully into the conversation.

Your eyes followed Ellie, watching her throw an arm around Dina, still grinning wide.

Oh, Ellie...

I wish you'd notice me.
