What if ☝️ Simon was in handcuffs while he was in the sub. (Because he was wearing them in prison and they were too scared to remove them while transporting him and it's not like he would need his hands that far apart to operate the controls)
Idk just something about the idea that he can't pretend he wasn't a prisoner. That was one of the first things Grace knew. Especially if Simon was unconscious and couldn't answer questions or defend himself.
And he feels like he constantly has to prove he's not a bad person and "worthy of being near Grace" (very much only Simon (and maybe Rocky) thinks that (once he explains what happened (Grace was a bit afraid at first))
