Ok, people from the internet who care about this, I have made a vague idea of which era every ami is from in my Les Mis x El Ministerio Del Tiempo AU. Do have in mind, however, that I don't know that much about French history and many of these eras were elected over the first paragraphs of Wikipedia.
Thus, in chronological order:
JEHAN: Renaissance
Ever since I got the idea for this AU, I knew I had to put the poet in a famously artistic era, and since he and Grantaire are the only two who are seen talking about Greek mythology in the book, I thought putting him in the rebirth of that culture would be very fitting.
JOLY: Scientific Rev. (1500s)
If my memory doesn't betray me, this was the revolution that made medicine be what it is today (if we ignore the one in the XIX century, but that was too late for him in this story, imo; he gives me old vibes). Since he's one of the two medicine students in Les Amis, there's no better era for him to be from.
BOSSUET: bro, IDK
As the unluckiest member of the group, he would also be the only one who has been in so many eras for so long that he doesn't even remember which one he comes from, and he doesn't really care.
ENJOLRAS: June 1832
Idea given by @zzalina
Well, this one is obvious: he's the leader of said revolution, and it felt wrong not putting the date in my AU. Sure, I could have gone with the French Revolution, but it didn't sit right with me to put him in a fight that actually worked out, even if temporarily; I think one of the most important parts of his character is that he fought an unsuccessful fight.
FEUILLY: Revolution of 1848
If I'm not mistaken, this fight was started because of the overbearing rule of the monarchy, fought against by both the bourgeoisie (they wanted money) and the proletariat (they wanted rights). I thought having Feuilly fight in such an economic-heavy but historically forgotten fight was on point.
COMBEFERRE: Third Republic
Apparently, the third republic was a time of hope and prosperity, with a lot of scientific and cultural advances. For someone whose most famous line is "liberty," I think this era is perfect.
COURFEYRAC: 1920s
After WWI, the people went crazy celebrating every ounce of freedom and joy they could fight for, and I think Courfeyrac should be in a moment of happiness that is exactly between two of the worst moments of modern history... And I really want someone from this decade in my fanfic.
BAHOREL: May 1968
Lots of angry students fighting to get the freedom and stability the government doesn't want to give them, need I say more? I think not.
GRANTAIRE: Modern Day
Well, of course, I needed someone from the present day in this story, and who else but the main protagonist? Besides, there really should be something said about the amount of cynicism that is happening right now because of all the political and social unrest.
So... I lost interest in this AU. Maybe I'll pick it up in the future, but probably not. If anyone finds this and wants to write their own version, you have my full support! Just make sure to credit me for the idea and tag me so I can read it.
Sorry for us politics posting, but we have until May 22, 2026 to submit public comment to the FCC:
More info from GLAAD:
https://glaad.org/fcc/
They have some good tips about writing a comment and protecting your privacy which, fuck it, I'll just paste here:
Providing an email address is optional. If you have concerns about privacy, you may use your initials or public address in your local area, such as City Hall. Do not use a joke name. It diminishes the comment’s credibility.
Your submission does not need to be long. A single, well-reasoned paragraph is sufficient.
Do not copy/paste a template comment. The FCC values unique perspectives, and an original comment carries significantly more weight in the public record. You can explain why this matters to you without revealing private or sensitive personal information.
Here's what I said:
“Free speech is a fundamental American freedom. I do not need a warning about seeing queer people, much like I do not need a warning about women, veterans, or any other group of people.”
i’m making a post to talk about this with all the main information i feel is needed, so what’s happening to start? At the end of the month a new Les Misérables album is releasing, this recording is of the 40th Anniversary Cast from the WEST END. The cast listed are all entirely from the west end. Except for Jordan Shaw.
Instead Jordan has been replaced with a white actor, James Gish, now while i don’t want to place this blame onto Gish nor say anything against his performance, it’s INCREDIBLY disappointing and honestly ridiculous he’s the enjolras listed. James was NEVER at any of the 40th shows in the west end, the entire time it was Jordan Shaw playing in the role of Enjolras and he never missed a single day throughout the whole run. Jordan would’ve been there for whenever they decided to record, as even Killian Donnelly (Jean Valjean) said this was recorded live! They have INTENTIONALLY removed and replaced him.
[Cast List, Jordan Shaw’s name is nowhere listed despite the rest of the 40th Anniversary company being here]
Cameron Mackintosh (The Producer of the musical) did an interview with WhatsOnStage where he’s said he’s decided to splice the two 40th anniversary shows (the west end and the arena tour) but the ONLY songs that have actually been switched are only songs where Jordan would be singing as enjolras. Doesn’t sound like a coincidence right?
This is clear discrimination against Jordan Shaw. The fact they have chosen to remove one of their black principals KNOWING fully well how much this role has meant to Jordan and many other people who take inspiration from him, as well as the fact Jordan has helped to pave the way for us to get more POC enjolras actors! And not to even mention the fact Shaw won an award! An award in the role of Enjolras! He won “Best Supporting Male Actor” ! And it is so incredibly rare for this role to even be recognised especially in this way! Ap surely this would be something they want to promote right? But no, they have chosen not to and instead replaced him. I can’t even begin to imagine how disappointing this must be for Jordan - to see everyone else you worked so hard with get to be apart of this album and seeing that you’ve been the only person cut.
The fact they believed that no one in the fandom would even notice jordan’s removal is incredibly disrespectful and disappointing to me, the fact they thought we would simply turn a blind eye is disgusting. So please, talk about this. Jordan deserves his talent to be recognised.
So what can we do?
Good question! Sadly there isn’t loads, but i don’t think that should stop or discourage us.
Leave comments on every official les mis post you see - and constantly! they have been consistently deleting comments with any mention of Jordan’s name as well as even turning off the comments which shows they know exactly what they’re doing.
Send emails! Talk about how disappointed you are in seeing Jordan being removed without any explanation as to why! You can email directly to cammack: [email protected] or you can email the distributors themselves: https://www.warnerclassics.com/contact
And if you’re feeling kind, maybe send Jordan a little message over on instagram! i’m sure he’d appreciate knowing we as a fandom support him and love his Enjolras (if you haven’t seen it, i’d recommend watching this performance from west end live!)

Another PSA that Feuilly and Prouvaire are absolutely best friends and I know this to be true because, as someone who, at the time, had hardly interacted with fandom space at ALL, I was 100% confident this was popular fanon for some reason, but when I told a friend she was like, "I have never seen them interacting in fanon space."
Turns out they like… Sit next to each other and share a drink during Drink With Me in the 2012 movie, and are framed together occasionally
(Can we talk about how cute that shoulder pat is…)
(Can we talk about how cute that shoulder fist bump is…)
(The way Feuilly leans into him...)
(And the way they both visually check with each other and Prouvaire steps back to be closer to him... I love them your honor <3)
Apparently my brain took all of this without me realizing and said, "Obviously they're best friends!"
But then I sat and thought about it and… it actually makes a lot of sense? Hear me out.
Feuilly is an artist, but he does it for work. I imagine, since he's probably not had a chance to explore creating art outside of a business setting, he views the process as a means to an end rather than any creative outlet (especially since, according to how fan painting worked at the time, he was likely just painting over already existing guides).
Prouvaire is a poet. He's a wealthy, only son, so it's got nothing to do with money - he does it out of love for the art. Pulling another headcanon into this, I imagine he actually has to go out of his way to even have and enjoy this hobby, but that's a headcanon for another time. The point is, he enjoys the arts as they are, free from any business mindset, purely from the standpoint of enjoyment. (And as an aside, I've got a headcanon that he really loves arts like drawing/painting, but he's no good at it himself, so he's in awe of those who can do those things.)
So we've got someone focused on making a living, a bit more grounded there, splitting his time between work and his goal of freeing the people, vs a dreamer, with his head in the clouds, spending time in an artistic venture out of desire. Keep those differences in mind, we'll come back to that later.
They also have shared/similar traits.
Feuilly is people-oriented. The orphan that adopted the world, a boy who cares about nations outside of his own. He clearly loves people, cares about people; despite his upbringing, having a background that could harden his heart towards others, he has learned to embrace humankind.
I personally believe Prouvaire has had a rough history socially. Once again, pulling from headcanons, but someone so awkward, dressing badly, blushing at nothing - that's not exactly a socially graceful person, and I'm sure that's affected him throughout his life. Until he joined the Amis, I don't think he probably had many positive social experiences. Still, despite those interactions I imagine it's likely he had experienced, he is described as loving the people.
Obviously they both care a lot about the state of things. Prouvaire is specifically described as spending a lot of time thinking about a variety of social issues - poverty included - not just the standalone issue of creating a new form of government. He's really thinking about all the issues at hand. Feuilly is also thinking beyond that base, core goal, once again considering others outside of France. They have a wide view of what's going on.
However, I do think the way they view the issues is a little different. Feuilly, again, I think is slightly more grounded in the reality of it all, though he's highly optimistic about things, dogged in the justice for the things he cares about. Prouvaire, though, he's a Romantic. There's a lot more focus on the emotional effect of things there. He dwells on the melancholy and tragedy of the world - pitying women and weeping over children. Not to say he doesn't act, of course, he's not solely dreaming about a better future without doing anything to make a change, but there is inherently a more gentle approach to it all.
As a side note, I do think Prouvaire probably suffers from low self-esteem for multiple reasons (though, again, I'm partially diving back into headcanon territory for that thought, but I do think it would make sense for how his character is described regardless). I believe Feuilly cares a lot about people's right to identity, to be confident in who they are. Though he clearly focuses a lot on national identity, what do people consider justice for humankind without including the right of individuals to be who they are, both in a national sense and a personal sense? I imagine he'd very much want to boost Prouvaire's confidence.
And completely in the territory of headcanon, I imagine them both to be freckled redheads, but where Feuilly has a fiery red head of hair and is covered with freckles, Prouvaire is a softer strawberry blond with a smaller smattering of freckles. Zero basis in canon for that one, just how I happened to picture them and realized how charming that similarity is once I started thinking about the friendship I picture between the two. But that is neither here nor there.
The point is, I think they would really benefit each other and get along superbly. I think Feuilly's genuine, earnest attitude would reach Prouvaire's shy and uncertain heart, and I think Prouvaire's gentle love for things would give Feuilly a new perspective to appreciate. Feuilly can encourage Prouvaire to love, not just others, but himself, and Prouvaire can encourage Feuilly to find the beauty in his own work, in the art he does, even if he's technically doing it out of necessity. Where Feuilly can fire up Prouvaire and help him grow, Prouvaire can soften Feuilly and help him slow down and stop and smell the roses, so to speak. In all these ways, they make for a balance of each other, I think, and a compliment, too.
Anyway, the two of them are the best of friends, full stop; Hugo told me that himself. Thanks for coming to my TED talk <3
dorian gray is an abused, orphaned boy who is vulnerable and desperate for attention and engagement and this is why lord henry is able to get to him so deeply so quickly, because he is able to target that exact vulnerability--their first conversation making dorian feel like he's being treated as an equal (someone to talk about deep subjects with rather than merely a subject to be observed silently) by a man of "authority" and simultaneously stripping him immediately of his status as an Equal Human by suggesting he will automatically be worthless once his beauty fades...
The Department of Education worked with the far-right Family Research Council to officially designate March 12th as Detrans Awareness Day last year. But what actually leads people to detransition? It's not regret, but social stigma, incited by the very figures who claim to protect detransitioners. I want to hear their stories describing how the current moral panic influenced their decisions.
Before going all in on this vague idea, I'd like to know the opinion of ✨the people✨ in this fandom.
Would you like to read a four/five book saga rewrite of Stranger Things which puts more emphasis on psychological horror and the emotional arcs of the main characters? This rewrite, also, would have a different enemy, being the main one the Mind Flayer, which, instead of living in the Upside Down (which wouldn't exist in this story), lives and is part of a normalized fog that surrounds all of Hawkins. There would be demogorgons as well, although their nature is different from the series'.

I have no idea if this will reach anyone, but I lose nothing by trying.
I dislike Bridgerton, a lot, but what irritates me the most is the ideas that were actually good and got lost in... everything else. Because of that, I want to create a book saga of my own, and although I have plenty of ideas, I'd like to know, both from the people who like Bridgerton and who don't, what exactly do you like and dislike about it.

Okay, but hear me out on this one: at the barricade, when Jehan is taken, the guard who is to kill him brings him aside, like Valjean with Javert (except he actually wants to do the job); Jehan, however, isn't murdered, but instead fights and takes the gun from the guard to the cry of "vive la révolution!" before killing him. He then hides and enters the barricade amongst the chaos of the last fight. He finds Enjolras and is able to kill the guards who are about to kill him and Grantaire (Jehan is built different, I don't give a fuck). After that, the three of them escape the barricade and try to live with the trauma.
