I regret being the bearer of bad news, but I thought it should be shared that Walnut passed away in January of this year (2024). There's a lot of mixed info about the lifespan of cranes (due to people misunderstanding what a median is...) but the average for most species I know of is 20-30 years (in the wild if nothing eats them/they don't die young), and 30-45 in captivity, with the oldest known white-naped crane having loved to be 46. Given that she was 42, this old gal did good, and I'm certain she will be missed by folks here.

Why is Bonnie the only one held to these standards even when we see Elena call out characters like Damon and Elijah for their actions, so we can obviously tell that she has a different moral standing than they do? Even if Bonnie is those things, that still doesn't necessarily mean that she can't be with these said characters, whether for a short period or forever. Like, Enzo definitely does questionable things that would go against this idea, but these same fans don't question their relationship (some not all, same with Nora). It's only when we talk about characters like the Salvatores or the Mikaelsons or Kai (Enzo as well, back to my previous point), characters who have had flirtations or relationships with Elena and Caroline does this suddenly becomes an issue. And then the excuse of "Bonnie is too strong" to fall for them, as if that's supposed to be a compliment. Black women and girls, whether fictional or not, should not have to be seen as being "too strong" to be deemed worthy of love. That's such a gross thing to say, especially when our yte counterparts aren't held to the same standard, are allowed to be strong, and still fall in love. If you genuinely think that's a compliment, I urge you to do some work and figure out why that is.
