The faint, golden light of dawn began to bleed through the heavy linen curtains of the villa, painting the stone walls of the bedroom in shades of honey and apricot. Outside, the sleepy town of Aix-en-Provence was beginning to stir- a distant church bell chimed, and the faint, sweet scent of lavender drifted on the morning breeze.
Bonnie lay still for a moment, her breath hitching as she watched the man beside her. In the soft light, the sharp, dangerous angles of Klaus' face were softened. He looked less like the hybrid 'king' who had spent centuries carving his name into history and more like a man who had finally found the one place he didn't have to fight.
She leaned in, her hair spilling over the pillow, and brushed her lips against his in a feather-light peck.
"You know where this will lead," Klaus murmured, his voice a low, gravelly rasp. He didn't open his eyes, but a slow, wicked smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
Bonnie chuckled, a soft sound that vibrated in the quiet space between them. "Well - it'll be a very good morning then."
Klaus' eyes snapped open, revealing that familiar, intense spark that usually signaled a storm. Before she could pull away, his hand snaked out, firm and possessive, pulling her flush against him. The difference in their temperatures - her warmth against his cool, marble skin - sent a jolt through her.
"Good morning," he repeated, his voice dropping to a whisper that felt like a promise.
As their lips met, the rest of the world - the vampires, the witches, the ancient feuds, and the looming threats - dissolved into nothingness. There was only the heat of their skin, the rhythm of their shared breaths, and the intoxicating reality that here, in the quiet heart of France, they were finally, momentarily, untouchable.
the inherent problem (to me) with kl/arofics that involve someone (rebekah) giving hope to caroline to raise while new orleans is fighting is that if klaus trusted caroline with something like that, he would've went to her.
BUT, besides that. giving her to a vampire with only one known witch contact who would do cloaking spells for her makes far less sense than just giving her to said powerful witch to protect instead.
and also that rebekah wouldn't trust caroline with a fully grown human, let alone a baby, but that's a separate topic
